Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

  2. Any map mod with waypoint groups ?

Hoo thank you I personaly always use Mapwriter. When i need to go to some waypoint i just right-click on it at the fullscreen map, and it will be marked whit a white border on minimap.
  3. Any map mod with waypoint groups ?

Hey, I tried Mapwriter, but it does not have in-game waipoints. Only on map. Your english is better than mine
  4. Why flint and steel do not go on Tool rack?

Hi man, I think it will not be realistic to put this things on the tool rack (Maybe the steel tool, but you still can't put the flint there) The fire starter is the same thing.
  5. Any map mod with waypoint groups ?

Hi man, Have you already tried the mod Mapwriter? you can easily make groups in this one. I think you are using JurneyMap? don't you? (sorry for my english, i'm Brazilian and still learning this language)
  6. Any map mod with waypoint groups ?

I have found Xaeros minimap but sadly it does not have full-screen map which is must have for TFC
  7. Hey there, does anybody know any map mod with waypoint group functionality? Example: I have enabled in-game waypoints which shows as beacons, so I can easily see where to go without looking at map. In TFC there are usually so many waypoints (ores, fruit trees, caves and other places of interest). I don't want to see ALL of beacons... usually I want to see only mines, only caves, etc... So it would be handy if I could 'scroll' between waypoint groups and show only beacons of waypoints from active group. Hope that makes sense
  8. Does anybody lives in the south (4k ~ 6k) ?

Hmm, seems to have mitigated the problem. I loaded a backup and some fields of crops are missing now. Still the ones that already spawned are really over the top:

  10. Crashing on using the NEI recipe lookup

This post has been automatically generated from a form submission. Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in the blue box at the top of this form?: Yes Topic Title: Crashing on using the NEI recipe lookup TFC Version #: Forge Version #: SSP/SMP: Multi Player Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug?: No Changed Config Options: Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: Yes Other Mods Installed: If you have Optifine or a non-forge server plugin api (Examples: Bukkit, Cauldron, Thermos, etc) installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them?: Yes Crash Report: Description: Whenever I tried to press "R" or "U" to get the recipie or usage respectfully of any item, no matter if it was vanilla or from TFC, it would crash my game. But only on a private server for me and my friends. In singleplayer there were no issues. I had the mods I used from my .minecraft folder made into a Technic Launcher modpack and no matter which I used, it would always crash me to desktop. My friends are having a similar issue.
  11. Why flint and steel do not go on Tool rack?

Was really hoping for some comments on this. How do you deal with the flint and steel or the fire starter? I keep them in a chest close to the forge or campfire but is cumbersome. I believe if it was possible to have them in the tool rack it would be more practical.
  12. Legit gathering of missing resources

I think he was talking about importing back the image with the names into the map mod. Since the map is actually composed of generated images I do not see how it can be done. We do have the alternative of using Journeymap with the Waypoints. All one has to do is to share the waypoints.
  13. Legit gathering of missing resources

Journey Map mod lets you export the final image of the Whole map into a png file saved in your screenshots folder
  14. WIP TFCTech Addon

Hello, probably I ask it late, but... Are you still working on this mod(addon)? I just was looking for any addons for TFC andcame across your creation. This idea is very good! Ыmooth transition fromStone Age to Iron Age and then in an era of not the most, but high technology. I would really like to know how ready your project is and whether it will develop further. Thank you in advance. Forgive me if I made a mistake when writing a message, I'm just Russian and do not know very well English.

  16. Legit gathering of missing resources

sounds good, did you manage somehow to export resulting image to the mod itself, replacing map's data?
  17. Legit gathering of missing resources

it really would have been cool, but personally I don't know any of the kind I just have a project in photoshop with 2 layers: top layer with names and the bottom layer with the map Whenever we explore some more terrain, i just replace the old map with anew oneand all the names remain in their places
  18. Legit gathering of missing resources

I wonder if there is any map mod which allows adding these titles directly into map, that would be awesome
  19. Legit gathering of missing resources

The only valid option i see here is travelling My friends and I spend whole late-spring upto early autumn exploring Last weekend we even ended up naming our map
  20. Legit gathering of missing resources

The hardest to acquire resource is, in my belief, Garnierite; since it only spawns in Gabro. Even Graphite spawns in 4 differentrock types so with some effort you will find it. With that in mind, I actually only generate new worlds if I have the bad luck of a small Islands world. Since ores do not spawn under the ocean it is a waste of map. I like big continents, travelling by foot is the best way to find all the resources I need to progress in the tech tree.

  22. Hey, I was wondering, if you play legit (no cheats) and you play in a world for quite some time ... and then you are unable to find something (for example needed resource to progress further in tech tree). How do you solve that? For example: I generate new world and transfer all my stuff into this new world – BUT – my rule is that I can transfer only half of everything... like half of equipment, half of ores, half of ingots, etc...

  24. Tech pack

    Reactorcraft,Rotarycraft and Terrafirmacraft pack ?
  25. The world is centered on x: 0.5 z: -14999.5. Before we used to have a 100.000 x 100.000 world cetered around x: 0.5 z: 0.5. Most of that world was just wasted disk space. Now we have, what we think, is the most ideal part of the TFC world. There are jungles to the south and frozen wasteland to the north with all of the temperate climate area in between. And if needed we can always expand it horizontally like we did on the FreebieTFC server recently.
  26. Just out of curiosity. The 30.000 blocks of latitude are spread from -15000 to +15.000? I try that a while ago and ended up with 10.000 blocks wasted on Acacia Forest that no one would live on. Not counting the perpetual darkness under the treesthat makeit a zombie paradise, the heat is so great that food spoils faster than you can eat. How has Happydigger dealt with that?
  27. Work has begun on a new public HappyDiggers TnFC server. As some of you may know we already host a Donor TnFC server which is currently outdated. The new public server will be replacing the Donor server. And as the name suggests, no donations are required for joining this new server. I've generated a 100.000 x 30.000 block world. This took a long time. The server is currently being uploaded and I'll begin the process of setting up all the mods and plugins that we also use for our regular TFC servers. Since it'll be a public server we want it to use a bunch of plugins to make the lives of staff members easier. This means the server will be running on KCauldron and that means quirks and bugs. If you want to get an idea of how we run our public TFC servers, you're welcome to try our current TFC server at The next step will be to start play testing. Play testing should start in one or two weeks. For this I'm looking for a couple of volunteers. Preferably veterans of the official TnFC server. Play testing means we'll spawn in a bunch of resources and player will have to sprint through the various tech trees to figure out what works and what doesn't. No time for exploration and base building at this stage. Just setting up machines, testing mechanics, that sort of stuff. We'll require people to leave a short summary or report of each play session. Nothing too complicated. Just what you did and if it worked or not: build machine X, tried mechanic Y, etc. If anyone's interested please leave a reply and tell us about your experience with TnFC and if you're willing to do boring test work. Again, we are not looking for players at this point. If you want to play TnFC on our server, please be patient.
  28. [Solved] Crash after Starting a Map (singleplayer)

You may also want to increase the memory allocated for your TFC instance. Right now it seems to be set to 1024MB. If you have the RAM, try setting it to 2048MB or even 4096MB. Like TonyLiberatto mentioned. MultiMC really is nice for this soft of thing. You can set memory allocation on a per Minecraft instance basis if you want or even have global settings so each instance would use 4096MB for example.
  29. Does anybody lives in the south (4k ~ 6k) ?

Indeed, that is a transit area. But I think there was a changes to make crops die of old age (regardless of the config setting). Moreover, I've seen wild crop disappear when I was just next to it. The config option "enableCropsDie" was set to false, because as far as I know, it only concerns crops planted by the player. Anyway, I've set this to true again.... we'll see...
