Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

Cant wait, been wanting one for SOO long

  4. TFC and RotaryCraft

If you install the mods on your own client, you don't need permission. You only need permission when you create a mod pack that you want to share with others. This means you can put the mods together and see which problems you encounter. Things that come to mind are world generation, over powered mechanics and ambient biome temperatures. Some machines need to be cold, others need to be hot. Placing them in a biome that is either too hot or too cold can be detrimental. And since Rotarycraft has some very powerful machinery the jump from TFC's hand forged tools to Rotarycraft's high tech machinery will be huge. Try playing through the Rotarycraft tech tree with TFC installed and see if it works. Rotarycraft is a really nice mod that we were fortunate enough to get permission for to include in our HappyDiggers AMP mod pack back in Minecraft 1.6.4 before Reika even allowed his mods in mod packs in general. Rotarycraft is also a more technical mod in the sense that it's a bit more difficult to understand it's mechanics than other tech mods like Buildcraft, Industrialcraft, GregTech, EnderIO, Mekanism, etc. If you ask me that also makes it a potentially good fit for TFC. Not everything has to be easy
  5. TFC1 1.12+ port

Believe me, you have no idea how many people want that. This was the dream of mostTerrafirmacraft players for a long time. TFC 2 is a completely different game, so much that I even suggested that it should have another name. Now Please when you say that you can deliver a port to the latest Minecraftversion you create a huge expectationon the community, that only reason this thread is not flooded with comments is that things have been slow for so long that most players went away or only check the forum once in a while. I think once people start to talk about it will be a huge success.
  6. TFC1 1.12+ port

This is excellent news, thanks very much for your work on this.
  7. Curious As To How Feasible A TFC Modpack Is

It is my opinion that 1.7.10 was the last good version of Minecraft before they ran out of ideas, and I haven't played anything past it for an extended period of time. Just sayin'

  9. TFC1 1.12+ port

This is great news Minecraft 1.12 offers a lot of really nice improvements for both client and server. Really happy that you want to support Sponge. We would definitely run a public server if a somewhat stable port comes out. We've never had problems with running beta releases in the past. Having an issue tracker (Github works well) so we can provide bug reports and Jenkins for faster turn around on bug fixes would be appreciated.
  10. My game crashed after I started the game, got any idea how to fix this? https://hastebin.com/acocasilen.pas
  11. A TNFC server would be interesting to test again, Im a veteran of the official servers myself. For simply keeping an eye on the server community, I would not mind some moderation responsibilities. Where is your server located?
  12. Unlimited Chisel Works is an addon for Chisel I have created which provides Chisel variants of various modded blocks. Unlimited Chisel Works TFC2 is an addon for said addon which extends that functionality to TerraFirmaCraft 2, with respect to its unique block logic. Downloads can be found here.
  13. Sorry, no. That would require players to install this mod on their clients. We have always kept our servers TFC only and expanded functionality through Bukkit plugins to keep it as easy as possible for players to join.
  14. motive power

Do not you feel a little annoying when grinding grains with stone mill? Let's solve it. Do not attempt to automate using energy such as water wheels and windmills?
  15. hello,Just as a suggestion, would it be possible to add the merchant addon to your server, for trading purposes? Just a friendly suggestion, do with is as you please. Love your server, by the way.
  16. Bleth , pleas send me a Udary mod 2.33 version , please . PS: You link don't work

  17. TFC: What vanilla resources are and aren't available?

TFC have almost all vanilla resources replaced, but usually they are using oredict, if your mod is using oredict, it can use TFC ingots instead of vanilla ingots. But there is no vanilla stone, cobblestone, bricks, soil, food, so you probably need to use minetweaker to change recipes.
  18. WIP [TFC-0.79.29] TerraFirmaProgressivePack

Did you read readme.txt? Remove other mods and configs before installation this modpack. Please attach logs/fml-client-latest.log in spoiler, I can't guess what goes wrong.
  19. I'm so glad TFC isn't dead!

I'll be honest in that this is probably considered some kinda spam but I just, really have to express my joy here!! TFC is my absolutefavoritemod in the entire damn world. I never really get beyond basic Copper tools/low-level alloys, but I've always loved the grind it provides and the fight-for-your-life monster battles. The fearful hovering over that "difficulty" button when the first night descends and all ya have are six stone hammers and like 80 knives is a nostalgic feeling for me I'm glad to see that SOMETHING is happening since the Wiki's seeming death. I kept waiting for the update that would give Galena some kind of use - and it just never came...so I assumed the mod was dead in the water. Thank you to everyone who works on TFC2 and cheers to there being a community of any kind! -Rena
  20. WIP [TFC-0.79.29] TerraFirmaProgressivePack

For some reason, my launcher crashes every time I attempt to install this. Anybody mind helping out a blithering idiot like myself?
  21. [0.2.4] TFC2 Prerelease

    What Even Is This
  22. [0.2.4] TFC2 Prerelease

    Thanks
  23. TFC1 1.12+ port

Is It Possible you Could Release The 1.9 version as an alpha port?
  24. TFC1 1.12+ port

It's a bit difficult to port mod from 1.7.10 directly to 1.12, so I decided to port it by steps. Now mod perfectly ported to 1.9. I think, it will take a few days to port it to 1.12 and test it properly. The most breaking changes was in 1.9, so it shouldn't take lot of time.
  25. TFC1 1.12+ port

Generally When do you think the port will be downloadable, I seriously cant wait to start pack making with the original tfc in newer versions
