Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

  1. I'm curious; how would you end this series? Check it out and let me know. The last episode comes out this Sunday at noon.
  2. Hey Guys, My Youtube series is complete. The final two episodes will be out within the week. They are uploaded and scheduled on youtube. Enjoy!
  3. Ah, thank you very much.
  4. Hi, I'm doing a youtube series lets play and the first two baby cows I got I familiarized all the way, they have a gold heart, but they are not growing up into adult size. Does anyone else have this problem? The mother cows are familiarized half-way or so and I cannot get them familiarized more than that. They have the white border but I am not milking them much, only feeding grain. Is that the issue with that? Same for the horses. I can only tame them half-way with grain. Do I need to ride them to familiarize them all the way? The wiki is only so helpful on these issues. Kind of annoying because I'm not sure what to do with them if they won't grow up.
  5. Hi guys, here are some screenshots from my YouTube series. The house has a loft area, a dormer, an attic, kitchen, living room with fireplace, basement, bedroom, and work area. In this series I don't build it if it doesn't look real. Check out the series for inside looks of other builds in use like an outhouse, a five pit kiln, barn, forge room, pig sty, and more.
  6. Hey all, I'm up to episode 32 in my youtube series. The season finale is about 10 episodes away. Would still love to hear more feedback and suggestions on the series, why not hear from you?
  7. Help, I would love to play this game, was so excited, but I cannot get terrafirmapunk to launch. Other mods load and launch fine, just not terrafirmapunk. Am I doing something wrong?
  8. Hey guys, I was hooked as soon as I played terrafirmacraft so I started a new world and am recording it. I made a small back story about how if I survive for 3 years I receive a major perk. I play on hardcore so I can never disable mobs. check it out: I would love more interaction, suggestions, comments, and the like. Above all, I try to keep the series realistic, I don't do or build anything I don't think would work or look right in real life. I also try to keep things interesting with skin changes and camera angles and the like. (check out episode 11 to see what I mean) Join the fun! Let me know what you think.
  9. Attracting Deer/Fishing suggestion

For what it's worth, I really like both ideas, the salt block and the different fish. The salt block should work only if it is the right climate though, but it would help provide a source of leather until pig and cow herds are developed without having to spend hours of game time exploring for wild animals. So far, I've lucked out in my youtube series and found animals fairly easily, but I can identify with what he's talking about.
  10. Better Temperature

I was thinking something along the same line, especially make wearing clothing outside during the winter so you don't freeze. I am doing a terrafirmacraft series on youtube and am adding some of these elements into my roleplaying even though it technecally isn't a thing. I'm getting ready for my first winter and am planning to go hunting for the express purpose to get more leather to make boots and a hat to stay warm. But woolen clothing should be a thing.
  11. Hello, I recently started a TFC youtube series (so far up to episode 10) and to help me remember things I started an excel page. The page lets me enter the different target requirements, then I enter how much of each quality of ore I have and the sheet calculates the total units of ore and what percent of each I have. I am wondering how accurate the alloy recipes need to be. For example. To make bronze you need between 8% and 12% cassiterite and the remaining amount (88% - 92%) needs to be copper. How precise does this need to be? Does it round up and down or does it need to be exactly within those perameters? Would 7.8% cassiterite and 92.2% copper work...? thanks...
  12. Garnierite generation specifics

yeah, I think it makes sense. My question is, what happens if I would add rock types to garnierite. Would it be able spawn in those as well then? I highly suspect there is much more to it than that or everyone would be making garnierite spawn like crazy.
  13. Garnierite generation specifics

yes, notepad can read it. Thanks again for the replies. Munin295, I'm going to try your method of checking all the chunks. Also, what would you have to do so garnierite spawns in more rock than just gabbro. I am clueless when it comes to computer code writing. Can you change that in the config files or are config files just to let you know how the code is written?
  14. Garnierite generation specifics

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. So since I already found one vein in my current gabbro layer, am I probably better off looking for a second gabbro layer? Also, I think I found the TFCore.cfg file, but how do I view it?
