      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. I find myself unable to open minecraft after installing Terraria. Here's the crashlog: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1578428/ I should mention that initially, the problem was as simple as me not having the right version of Minecraft/Forge, but now that I've fixed that this is happening. Help? Oh, and I'm running Windows 8. Might that have something to do with it?
  2. [Solved] Freezing on "Converting World" phase

Thank you kindly, that fixed it! EDIT: Wait, no, I'm getting this crash log. Fudge. What did I do wrong?
  3. [Solved] Freezing on "Converting World" phase

Blammit, I'm having this same exact problem. I just downloaded Minecraft onto my new computer, and I can't revert back to 1.4.6. Is there a workaround for this, or will I have to wait until the next build of TFC?
  4. Planks first toughts

I believe someone else said that there was very good reasoning behind removing different stick types for all the different trees, which has been implemented and was subsequently removed, apparently, although I'd like to get a link to that post to see if their claim holds water, and if the logic behind that decision still applies in our current situation. That being said, I don't distrust the reasoning behind the decision or the person making that claim, I'd just like to see it with my own eyes.
  5. Planks first toughts

I like the idea, but no recombining. Measure twice, cut once, like a real carpenter. If you cut twice and it's still too short, it's time to get a new plank- and be more careful with it. Also, speaking of real carpenters, nails would be cool, now I think it. But they would be IMPOSSIBLE to implement to any effective or useful or even reasonable degree, so nevermind.
  6. Planks first toughts

The crashing I'm going through is getting progressively worse, but that's going to be fixed one way or another, I'm sure. So, as for what I think about how the planks have been implemented, I agree that having them be 2x1x8 or 4x2x8 or some other dimensions along those lines would indeed be far better suited to their purpose and their texture, as well as being more intuitive, and is frankly what I expected. I think perhaps we could consider changing the plank block in some way to make more sense, as opposed to how it is now, which is honestly odd in the first place. In real life, why would you make a meter-by-meter-by-meter block of wooden planks? Remind me what the point was in changing them to planks in the first place, if the logs the planks are made from are the same size and shape? Anyway, enough of that. I'd also like to add that planks seem very useful for preventing cave-ins. I'm actually making a house out of Shale sand, and using Aspen planks to keep it together. I'm not sure if this was intended, though.
  7. [Request] Tronic?

I think the thing is, some of the stones are very blatantly multi-colored, as well as a lot of other things. So really, you'd have to have some patterns to it, instead of just having solid colors.
  8. Tree growth speed/size

If I may comment that a roots block would be interesting. It would provide the ability to make early underground shelters under large trees, and create a possibility to have trees "fall"- essentially, when the tree is unstable for some reason, most likely because the roots have been cut out a bit, then the tree might have a chance to fall down in some way. Possibly turn into logs? This could also be expanded so that trees would fall over in windstorms, too.
  9. On the topic of Random Drops

Yeah, this mod does remind me of Better than Wolves, but honestly, this one is holding my attention way more. As a player who frequently starts new worlds, I always found the parts of Minecraft that I actually accessed on a regular basis to be very dull, and this mod already makes me more attached to my worlds and gives me a reason to get into the higher level stuff, not to mention giving it a little bit of kick from the difficulty plateau right at the beginning. It's not hard to knap yourself your basic tools, but it's certainly more interesting that punching trees. Also, thanks to everyone for a warm welcome, and I understand that the dev is hard at work implementing far more interesting things, but I still thought there should be some attention brought to this since I couldn't find a topic about it on the forums.
  10. On the topic of Random Drops

So, I'd like to talk about something I just discovered. I'm currently in the stone age of my development in TerraFirmaCraft, and I haven't found a single ore or got a pick or anything. I understand that this is perfectly normal, and I'm not complaining about that. However, I have a perfectly good iron shovel. Now, I'm sure you're wondering why I told you that I have an iron shovel, and, indeed, you might be wondering how I got it. After all, I have yet to be in a position to smith a single item. Well, I killed a zombie. As you may very well know, vanilla Minecraft allows for a small chance for zombies to drop iron tools and armor. Obviously, I also know this. What concerns me is why this feature has been untouched in a mod like this one. Surely, the shovel shouldn't be in perfect condition if I just yanked it out of the cold, dead hands of a rotting corpse? I mean, you'd expect it to be used (and therefore damaged), or rusty, or something, considering that it's there at all. Who agrees with me, and how best ought this to be approached (or why should it not be)? Or for that matter, am I just an idiot? I'd love to hear what you guys think.
