Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

  1. [0.2.1] TFC2 Prerelease

It usually does, but it was not a thing back in TFC1. Dunno, maybe I'm just not used to the way it's suposed to be.
  2. [0.2.1] TFC2 Prerelease

Is it ok taht stalactites and stalabmites tend to generate exactly on top of each other? Wouldn't exactly call it a major bug, but I do believe it is a bug or miscalculations of some sort anyway.
  3. [0.2.1] TFC2 Prerelease

I just had a heart attack Is it a dream?
  4. Boreal Forest Village

I've spent like 4 hours to locate a new Malachite vien and to dig it out. It was on the very surface, so I made a quarry instead of a mineshaft. Unfortunately forgot to make a screenshot of it. I will the next time I go there, but I doubt it will be any time soon. Now my plans are to finish the bloomery, as there is only 1 out of 3 ready to use. The next up is locatingsome Iron. I have a lot of Limonitemarkedaround, just need to find the best place to set up a mineshaft. Then there comes iron age and with iron tools I'm gonna start working on buildings, and there is quite a lot in plans:

One ingame year passed and so did my Copper mine getdepleated. Well, deamn, that's bad. The last layer gave me 47 ingots, although it's sooooonot enough.I still need a whole tonn of copper to make2 more bloomeries, which consist of 32 bronze ingots each, and as we all know, bronze is90% copper. Seems like I'm gonna have to look for a new vien. Hopefully the new one won't be poor like this one.
  6. Boreal Forest Village

Yup, that was indeed the point I wanted my village to looke more like a scandinavian town on IIXcentury, but when I realised that they didn't have any bloomeries (they did, but they were aweful) I just didn't know what to do, so I did waht I can do good enough:Temples!
  7. Release Date? Soon?

Too late Can't stop my hype now
  8. Weapons, sheats, and ranged weapons

Well, actually, if it isbeing developped for 1.9, then you dohave a point That could (should (will)) make it easier to implemend Although, once again, after firepits and stuff are finished
  9. Release Date? Soon?

God, that's such a relief Haven't heard of any sufficient news for months, but this... This is GOLD And I really mean it Never have I been so hyped about TFC2 as from now on
  10. Weapons, sheats, and ranged weapons

OK, never mind, I take some of my words back TFC ISbeing hard worked on It's just myincompetence Ahh, feel so ashamed right now Sorry Bioxx for doubting you ♥
  11. Cooking with TFC (WIP)

Ho-ly-cow Is this legit? This is purely my dream-come-true! How come did I not see this topic before?
  12. My "Stranded" Roleplay screenshot journal.

It's this button Anyway, keep up the storytelling I ain't no native english-speaker, but I like the way you write
  13. Weapons, sheats, and ranged weapons

I must admit that it wouldhave been cool if it waspossible to accomplish at this state However, it's not The developper is bothered (if he even continues his work, hasn't been much news lately) with task of greater importance, like TFC2 itself For all I know there is still so much to do before small and less important things like combat mechanics can be implemented Nevertheless, there might be some gold handed mod maker who will be able to develop somethink of this kind, but I doubt anybody will Get your hopes up and look forward to TFC2 My bet is that only there youmight see somethink of this kind
  14. Boreal Forest Village

I finally got my hands on the bloomery. It's been a long break for me, haven't played TFC for a couple of months now, but afer a tourism trip toAzerbaijanI feen inspired to build and create again! Here is the newer, better version of the bloomery. It's much easier now to get to the top. Looks better aswell I think.
  15. Boreal Forest Village

Sorry, I've updated the modpack and forgot to edit the link to a newer version. I've added shaders. Water, plants, leaves and, what's no less important, rivers work fantastic. However, my fps drops from 90 to 20-30. Nevertheless, I do think that TFC should definetly be played with shaders. It's just so beautiful then. Anyway, I've aupdated the link in the post itself, but you can also get it HERE.
