      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Ingame money

You don't need to trade to live a cozy life. Since you've probably reached the middle-end game, you probably already have the essentials needed to live one. All you have to do is work for it to keep it that way. The real problem, however, lies within thelack of depth in much of TFC's features. We are still in early development, and it is probably going to take five more years, at the most, to finish the mod. I imagine that much of the early, middle, and end game features will already be properly fleshed out, added, and tuned to make TFC a really great mod. Surviving forever all really depends if you want to just settle down and live a comfortable life in TFC. Me, I would do both; build a sustainable (and defendable)homebase, and then begin exploring my world, mapping out the regions for potential resources and locations, while I survive the wilderness. P.S. - I apologize for being nitpicky, butthat question of 'Are you surviving if you have steel' is a little too vague. I could only have one steel bar and still be trying to survive in the wilds, or I could have multiple steel tools and armor and simply consuming the resources of my world. Moral of this little sentence: Try to be specific as much as you can.
  2. Plank block change.

Please read the "Why TFC Cannot Have a Restricted Inventory" at the Discussion subforum. Then, your question(s) will be answered, . Off-Topic Side Note: YESH, 500TH POST!!!1!!1!
  3. Eh... well, I never really experienced the issue of having time being crazy on the crops and animals and whatnot when I configured the time to be longer. Make a backup of your world and test it to see if there is any adverse effects.
  4. One Single Giant Server

The developers are prioritizing Metallurgy and Mining over everything else, since they are the biggest features in TFC, Bbush. It will take a long while to get everything necessary for a true TFC experience in, since it is mostly two coders who can only code on their free times. TFC is still in early beta, and I think the longevity of thedevelopment process will be almost as long as Dwarf Fortress.DF is huge, and it will probably take another ten years to complete, but with TFC, it might take around five more years, or so, until TFC finally reaches the 1.0 stage.
  5. I would say that Metallurgy and Mining should be the top priority, because they are essentially one of the most important,if not the most important, aspects in TFC.Making it fun and interesting while also challenging will be time-consuming and difficult, so I think that'swhy thedevelopers would focuson these aspects.
  6. New Dangers of the Night

You never mentioned hunters. There are also no such thing as hunters in a hive hierarchy; there are the hive workers, which do all of the tasks for the colony to survive, the drones, which do nothing but mate for the Queen, and the Queen, which lays larvae eggsto make more hive workers and drones.
  7. What about a big battle between TFC players?

Something like a Hunger Games survival tournament, with teams, that's sound.
  8. Ask the person below you

A race of Elder-like aliens, who demand cookies, and if you make a pact with them, they will unleash their horrors onto the world if they don't get their daily tribute of cookies. Three of the most powerful civilizations of their galaxies have joined together in an alliance and have invaded the Milky Way Galaxy. What do you do?
  9. Ask the person below you

I'm from Inaba, thank you very much (not really, just a joke you'll probably won't understand, ). Do you think you can defeat the buggers' fleet of hundreds of starships with tens of thousands of fighters with yourmilitary intelligence andpuny fleet of fifty old-fashioned starships and four fighters per said ship?
  10. What about a big battle between TFC players?

You just basically posted a much more detailed version of a suggested experiment to see how well vanilla players can play in TFC . And Corki, there is already discussion on a better combat system, in the Combat Opinion Poll thread on the Suggestion(?) forum. All joking and telling aside, even if the sequoia bug is fixed, this suggestion is putting TFC under a bad light. What I mean by 'bad' is that the tournament is more focused on gladiator-styled, team-based games than actual survival."Survival Mode as it should've been," that right there is the main objective of this mod: to make the Survival Mode in Minecraft better and make it feel like you're actually surviving. Proposing a gladiator-style, team-basedtournament, on the other hand, to promotewill give many viewers the impression that TerraFirmaCraft is another RPG and better combat mod, not a survival mod. I doubteveryone reads the entire video description tab, these days, if you think that putting it there will solve problems. And the annotations might be more annoying than helpful, since explainingTFC will require a bit of explaining than a few simple words. In other words, while having a fighting tournament to promote TFC is fun and good, we might give viewers a wrong impression of the mod.
  11. New Dangers of the Night

Vanilla hostiles are to be confined in the underground, in the future. Mr. Dunkleosteus has planned to populate the surface with animals we are generally familiar with (I.E. - tigers, aurochs, sheep, wolves, etc.). Hives have already been suggested in the past, from what I can remember. Regardless, I think this is more annoying than dangerous for both SSP and SMP. Though the hives are rare (meaning less chances of meeting the hive workers), finding food is going to be more difficult because the hive workers will keep taking all of the animals. They take a while to reproduce, and since they don't respawn, that's going to be a huge problem, especially in the early game.Growing plants will take a long time, too, and you will have already starved, by the time the wheat is ready for processing.
  12. Ingame money

In my honest opinion, I don't think commerce should play that great of a role in TFC. It's all about surviving, right? While trade is important, theimplementation of currency isn't going to be much use to the game. TFC is revolved around surviving, not commerce, and who wants to count how much money they got to buy that steel pickaxe when they can simply just search and mine for iron and forge it? The latter is more fun and addictive compared to the former, and I know that you know you don't want to grind for money just to get that steel pick. In the end, while commerce and currency sounds fun and all, in the end, it just won't work out on a massive scale. Currency won't even work, no matter the scale, but in the case of bartering, you might have some small trade posts here and there, but like I stated before, TFC is centered around surviving. Getting desirable resources requires exploration and mapping, and that can be fun, if executed right. On the other hand, grinding relentlesslyfor moneyjustyou can purchaseone steel pick is dull and boring. There are some things in real life that just can't be emulated in a survival video game, such as the Minecraft mod TFC.
  13. For me, the only reason I know Godzilla is because of the American versions. I don't know about the Japanese ones, since I haven't seen them yet, and I'm interested in other things. Personally, I think the new one is going to be better than the 1999 one, but I liked the older one, as well. Mostly because of its visuals and action, and the fact I seen it whenI was little. I grew up with the American version, but never really forced anyone upon it. Though, the 1999 Godzilla looks nothing like its original counterpart, I personally like its roar. That's pretty much it for me. I'm more in favor of Godzilla, though.
  14. Nostalgia

My best memories came from the Nessaja server. Those were good times, too bad, the administrator is missing, and everyone is pretty much disbanded. Warfighter is in the forums, though.
  15. Making horses living things

Isn't the control scheme that you've described basically controlling them? I'm completely unfamiliar with programmingthe sensitivity of controls in Minecraft to make it feel smooth and realistic, so I can't really give you anything on that. Also, I'm certain that horses will be mountable in the future, I just don't know when (or I'm being an idiot and unaware that they are mounts). Horseback riding while firing a bow is actually harder than it looks. You will have to keep your balance on the horse itself while it is moving, while also trying to fire your bow whilst keeping it steady. Skilled archers could accomplish this, but if you're a novice, then expect to fall of your horse in your first go. Also, you didn't really added anything at all on how they should be living things. But, then again, all organisms live to survive and reproduce, and that's pretty much a guaranteed plannedfeaturefor allanimal mobiles in the mod, since--besides breeding in captivity and naturally--they only wander around, at the moment.
  16. Ah, I forgot. Thanks for the clarification, Miss Kittychanley.
  17. What do you mean by 'starting out naked'? You're already bare of anything useful when you first spawn, so where's the point in that? I'm afraid that limiting inventory space to two hands is basically outright punishing. No matter how we really change the inventory system, in one way or another, without proper amendments, it's going to be punishing. Now, stacking items, besides some of the clay vessels, I haven't really heard a suggestion like that one, yet. I think that's a big help, in my opinion, but we'll have to see about its practicality. As for clothing made of straw, how are you able going to build it itself when you have no strings to attach them together?I'mpretty sure you also need to refine them, as well. Also, where are you going to get the straw? They come from wheat, and it will take months to grow them, and better wear will come from leather, which is much easier to get than getting straw. Having the straw clothing carrying a couple of tools is OP and unbelievable; youneed some sort of sheath or belt to actually hold them in place. Animals will get an overhaul in the future, wherein they do have a hunger/thirst system. Right now, it's delayed at the moment, because of the upcoming 78 build that will revamp a few important aspects of TFC.
  18. standalone possible?

While TFCis intended to be believable, Mr. Dunkleosteus himself stated that there is room for some level of fantasy. The vanillamonsters, while borderline-unbelievable, will have some sort of degree of believability, because at least they aren't natural creatures in the surface. I'm assuming that Mr. Dunkleosteus will provide reasons for the vanilla monsters' existence, and I think that the monsters can be believable, as well. We just need good reasons that are within the scope of this mod in order to allow them. Personally, I see TFC as a total conversion mod to Minecraft. There's nothing wrong with that title, in fact, this mod vastly improves the aspects of survival and makes it more difficult without really sacrificing gameplay (I believe that was part of the initial plan for TFC). But, I suppose it can be a game within itself.
  19. Name Me!

    Happy New Year.
  20. Name Me!

    Meh.
  21. standalone possible?

I don't exactly agree with a 'Standalone' version of TerraFirmaCraft. It is a very fun mod, and the plans for Build 78 and beyond are very interesting. However, the idea of breaking away from Minecraft? I feel that by breaking away from the vanilla basegame that created theTFC mod, we lose a part of ourselves as Minecraft players, in general. Personally, I like both TFC and the vanilla game, and each has its own pros and cons. The vanilla game is basically Creative mode in a survival setting once you have set up proper lodgings, but the creativity and building that it comes along with is definitely fun, especially for someone who likes building things such as I. And then, there is TerraFirmaCraft, the hardcore game that not everyone can play. I like it for its believable world and aspects of survival. I love both of them. I don't care ifTerraFirmaCraft is a mod for Minecraft and vice versa. I liked Notch's concept in having a randomly generated, 3D world made of blocks. That's essentially the barest bones concept I can say. Having TFC as a standalone game will not only eliminate a part of ourselves, in my honest opinion, but consider what would happen if TFC does become its own game, in terms of the media and audience. It would certainly become popular, probably even more so than Minecraft, itself. There is a likelihood that TerraFirmaCraft could become the next Minecraft, if this were to ever occur, and that the original Minecraft would either be forgotten in the anals of gaming history, or it continues to be what it is, but under the shadow of TerraFirmaCraft, with a player fanbase that has significantly lowered since TFC had become standalone. Now of course, this is all speculation, and I think this could happen if we're not being careful enough about creating TFC as its own game. However, regardless of the massive changes it might and will undergo through if it becomes standalone, at the deepest roots, TerraFirmaCraft was still created originally as a mod. Nothing's going to change that. Even if the coding is vastly different from Minecraft, it is still originally a mod at heart. Overall, I'm against the idea of creating TFC as a standalone game. I personally think that the mod should just stay as it is. As for actually having TFC as standalone, like Miss Kittychanley stated, you have to create everything from scratch. And I mean everything; the models, the texture mappings, the shaders, the actual game programming, the sounds, pretty much everything that makes up a video game. With a team of two developers, unless we had more than that and they are dedicated, I highly doubt TFC can become standalone, not to mention that it even takes a group of professional developers months, or years, developing a complex game such as this.
  22. Brewing, Refining, Repairing

I'm very much sure refining tools and armor has already been suggested before. Fireproof metalarmor is nigh impossible unless you want burn marks all over your body. Metals have very good thermal (heat) conductivity, meaning that it can absorb heat easily, especially high amounts of heat. Even if the coating is applied (assuming it is even reproducible, in the first place, due to TFC's timeline limit), the metal would still heat up to scalding temperatures, given enough time. Armor types have already been suggested, and is being discussed at the Combat Revamp Opinion Poll topic. Tool repairs has already been suggested, as far as I know, but I never really delved deep into the topic. As for brewing and alchemy, I am pretty much indifferent about it. There was discussion about it in the past, but I never took the time to read those topics.
  23. Name Me!

This derail is boring. I wish the others were here, then we could have a really fun derail.
  24. Ask the person below you

Because you'll explode into tiny bits. Why do you reject your Shadow? It is simply a manifestation of your nastiest thoughts and deepest desires.
  25. Name Me!

A Hypervelocitybeam is basically a giant plasma slug. I've seen it bypassingeventhe strongest ofshields, and it's pretty deadly. Consortium ships, while we don't have distruptor cannons (we do have distruptor rifles, oddly enough), we make up for our cunning, resourcefulness, and number. We're extremely numerous, and I'm sure Kronatayan shields don't last forever. Oh look, here comes several massive Imperial fleets. Blast, they have so many Star Destroyers, frigates, corvettes, and fighters that I didn't think was even possible for the Empire. Crap, and they got the Eclipse with them, too. Well, better make a run for it. All Consortium ships, retreat to the asteroid belt! I repeat, retreat to the asteroid belt! None of their ships are designed to effectively shield against asteroids! *Consortium fleets retreat into thick asteroid belt. Consortium ships are known to be well-suited for asteroid-dense environments. Those Imperial fleets, on the other hand, they look pretty powerful. With the Eclipse with them, there is a good chance your Kronatayan warships are pretty screwed. Well, I'm going to let you two guys fight it out. Have fun dealing with the Sith Lord handing your Kronatayan butts on a silver, dark force platter! (Isn't a battleship and a battlecruiser the same thing?)
