      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Crafting Grid

As soon you get your first saw (copper, I suppose, although the material doesn't matter), you can make 4 plank blocks, one of which are made by crafting 4 plank items together. With them you craft a good old crafting bench, which will disappear and bless you with a nice 3x3 crafting grid. That has nothing to do with experience Enjoy!
  2. Smoke racks

Does that make sense? As far as I know, in RL brined and dried or smoked meats/fish can be consumed directly. Why not in TFC?
  3. Torch Improvements

You'd really waste two or more sticks just to turn yet another stick into a torch? O.oAnd you were complaining about wasting material?
  4. You want a thatch roof for aesthetical reasons, right? I was just thinking - why not remove thatch altogether (as of now it hasn't much purpose anyway), and make similar looking solid reed roof blocks, which would need to be bound together by rope (quite expensive, isn't it?). I come from a rather flat part of Austria with a large lake - people there have been using reeds from that lake as a roofing material for centuries (and some still do). That looks quite appealing in real life too, and would finally give some use to these cattails Edit: that was meant as an answer to aliceingame, sorry for off-topic, that idea would be better off in the suggestion forum ...
  5. make bushes.. unpickupable?

Careful, the same "adventure" every year quickly becomes tedium. One point of having achieved something is a reward of some kind, and convenience is one kind of it. If a skill is bound to relocating bushes, that convenience would be a nice reward for it, something you have had to work for.
  6. make bushes.. unpickupable?

I guess one problem that nobody mentioned yet, is the new food system: if you need that one particular berry for your perfect tasty meal, I'm sure you'd have this one conveniently in your courtyard rather than trekking thousands of blocks to attain it every season. High skill for relocating bushes? Well, why not? That would allow what I mentioned above later, when your cooking skill assumingly is high enough to even know which your favorite fruit actually is, and on the other hand would that still work fine for gathering on the run while in the early ages
  7. make bushes.. unpickupable?

I feel I have to disagree on this one: If planting saplings required such a high skill in farming, what about trees? You want to plant an acorn into the soil and wait a year until a little sapling comes out? You can't just say something like that without planning to make this change for the whole game, including trees. Consistancy! You are right that anyone could put a seed into some soil, but if something sprouts out of it is another matter entirely. I mean, this also needs skill and primarily: knowledge.
  8. Torch Improvements

Guys, there's really no lack of sticks in TFC! There are threads sprouting recently that suggest more uses for sticks, because they don't know what to do with the insane amounts of sticks they collected over time! Wasting material? This is not like making a mistake while smelting valuable metals and lose it in the process. Friends, we're talking about sticks here! You loose a few sticks to burnt out torches? Who cares! Sticks are an infinite, renewable source in TFC and vanilla.
  9. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

As Kitty stated above, directly messing with times would greatly temper with TFC code, and I guess things like crop growth, fruit trees, barrel processing, pit kilns etc. won't work correctly anymore, if they work at all.If it was that simple, they would have done that much earlier ...I understand that this would mean massive work, possibly even more than converting the whole code to a newer minecraft build. But I think, if they do it one day, the deepest thanks of 99% of the whole TFC community would rest on their shoulders
  10. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

I wouldn't go as far as allowing people to make the nights almost non-existent like in your example, I think the nights should last as long as the days, only much longer than it is now. I would settle for 20-30 minutes for night and day each. A further step would be to make the duration of day and night dependible on seasons, but that would really be insane to code I guess. But Dunk made the whole world's climate to depend on a tilt like the real world; who's to say what's possible or not But please, dear Devs, say that you at least consider to do some changes of day length some time in the future! There is always such an urge and stress to get something done before it goes dark (and that's not a good thing for me!); sometimes I'd just like to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. That just isn't possible now without wasting a whole day!
  11. TFC recontructed

If such a project really worked, our real world would be quite a different place to live in, I guess ...
  12. Rename Protein to Meat

I think there is not really a point in this discussion. Besides, Soybeans still are in that category, and that's also for gameplay reasons, to provide you with protein when there is not much meat around. Let's be it as it is ...
  13. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

That's a real shame - I have always felt that the days are insanely short, even in vanilla minecraft. 10 minutes daytime is ridiculous. Often I just make a few everyday chores and it's already starting to get dark again before I even get to what I was really planning for the day...I still think, this should be considered for a later major build!
  14. Support beams

    Fair enough
  15. The search for Gneiss!!

This seems a bit off to me, to be honest. If the block you brake isn't supporting something itself, why should it cause a cave-in? Of course you could argue, that realistically every piece of rock adds to the stability, but does it have to be THAT excessive? It really is hard enough as it is.You could make it so that a cave-in is only triggered by raw stone blocks that have at least one block above them, be it more stone or dirt/cobble/sand. A similar mechanic to that which prevents you to chisel stone that has 2 blocks above it.------------------To clarify Regnilse's question: so you could place beams, mine out and remove them again without danger of cave-ins?
  16. How do you catch a fish?

Thanks God! Because I live on a very short stretch of land between the ocean and a large lake, and I just practiced my butchering skill on squids and a few fish
  17. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

But you can do this in the wild with a campfire. You can still take your time eating in the wilderness without doing something else, which would "feel" filling enough, according to your theory. By the way, I don't think saturation of an organism has much to do with "feelings" anyway ... I like it as it is.
  18. Domesticating Animals

You mean that wild animals would randomly spawn and despawn like squids for example? So they would theoretically become an infinite source? If they spawn rarely enough and give significantly less meat than domesticated animals, I'd like this idea very much! That would encourage real hunting, without having to constantly worry that you extinct a species near your area, but still seems balancable enough. As it is now, I don't dare to hunt at all, because I rather save the animals for bringing home (so much for the stone age being a "HUNTER/Gatherer Society"), especially with the new butcher-skill, but this idea would change this issue completely, and for the better I'm sure
  19. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

So, let me get this right: You are saying that if your journey takes longer than you have planned (a VERY likely possibility in a exploring-heavy game like TFC), you'd have to starve to death inmidst a field of nice ripe tomatoes? Sorry, still makes no sense ...
  20. Dinner Table: New Saturation Mechanic

Erm ... I don't like outright bashing new ideas, but really can't see any logic here. No saturation except from eating with a table on a chair with several utensils?! Aside from not being believable at all, it would really hurt gameplay too. This would greatly discourage anyone from travelling/exploring! Either you starve to death (well, not in B79), or you bring your whole dining room with you wherever you go?? Or am I missing the point here completely and should go practice my english? At least as I understand this, it doesn't make any sense at all. [Edit:] Tables and chairs would be a nice aesthetical addition to our homes though ...
  21. The search for Gneiss!!

So mining a block from above really can cause cave-ins? I'm still not clear about this matter ...
  22. How do you catch a fish?

I have to ask again, because in my world I have a big lake and noticed that fish do indeed spawn as swarms of entities, like squids do in the ocean biomes. Now, are they subject to the overfishing limit or is that only applied to fishing with rod? Because to me it does seem like spawned fish are infinite like squids. To clarify: I'm not complainig here, would in fact hate to see those lovely swarms of fish diminishing!Dunk, the fish are really a masterpiece of yours! The model, the whole fishing system, so much detail. And when I discovered that grounded fish try to jump and get back into the water, I was just overwhelmed with awe!
  23. Why this mod become hardcore ?

Well, I'll try ...@Teagan75 - First of all a business, by definition, is some kind of exchange (e.g. I give you some shiny yellow pieces of rock and want one of your little pigs of your farm for them), now tell me what YOU are giving in exchange for the hours of entertainment that this amazing mod pleases you with!Further, this game/mod most certainly does NOT exist to entertain you or any of us, but only because Bioxx, Dunk, Kitty and who else is involved here WANT it to exist. If there are people enjoying what they create, well, then all the better :)You do have the right to state your opinion, however, don't be surprised if it proves a waste of your time if the devs don't agree with it.And finally, you don't have to try to patronize the devs and teach them how to survive in the entertainment business. You have no idea what they do for a living (neither have most of us, I guess), and to assume all of the devs are "young, high school or college" just because Kitty (officially not a dev, yet) mentioned her midterms once, is truly impertinent at best!If you really want to leave this game and its community, like you said above, feel free to do so for all I care. I'm sorry to say this now, because I really wanted to help with your problems above, but when I read something like this, I really don't know why the devs, especially Kitty, should have to put up with such garbage. I'd rather they put there time in enjoying their lives and work on their not so little baby if they feel to.
  24. The search for Gneiss!!

Don't cave-ins just happen when mining from below or from the sides of blocks? O.o If you can cause a cave-in even when mining the top of a block, that really seems a little too much, don't you think?
  25. early structures for latest builds?

This is the home I built on the first day in my current world: This is built and tore down very quickly, and without the thatch roof (which I made like this just for aesthetic reasons) it only needs 14 dirt/sand/other cheap blocks and only 8 logs, plus 2 solid blocks as a door. Like this: XXX X X X F X X X XDX LXL L L X X L L LDL X=Dirt, L=Logpiles, D=Door, (F=Firepit, optional) The base is made completely out of dirt, and the second layer is logpiles at all corners and dirt in between. I don't worry too much that spiders can climb in - as long as you stay inside and they don't see you, they won't come after you. What do you think?
