      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    This is my village build for our server. The idea began with a tavern I saw in a BBC article. I built a replica of that tavern on one server, rebuilt it on my current one and have continued building from there. It's still a work in progress but I hope you enjoy it. It's been about half a year since we started the server and we have had some really great players. Besides a technical bug here and there our only real complaints are the lack of others to play with. If people avoid the server because "no one plays" then there won't be people on it playing! So come explore, share your progress and your creations and most important of all have fun!

    The observation I made about lag with detail chiseled blocks was from experience and feedback from multiple players. After an incident where I had a build with an enormous amount of detail chiseling and complaints from every person who visited I switched to using mostly lumber. Since then I have taken observation from everyone who visits my builds on how laggy they seem to them, and so far I haven't had the severe issue I had with the detail chisel build. All of this in itself seems to be a more personal choice issue than anything. If the building material you are using creates issues scale back a bit. I love the detail chiseling feature and still use it quite often; just not on a large scale in any one place anymore. If I experienced complaints from my use of lumber I'd do the same, but as of yet all of the feedback has been neutral or positive. (P.S. I should mention the span of the observations of these builds on servers is approximately 2 years with hundreds of hours of play.)

    I should have specified detail chiseling. From experience it creates a lot of lag on servers. I use lots of lumber and other forms of chiseling and don't notice an appreciable amount of lag from them.

    I did a little experimenting and you can easily place sheets on any type of chiseled block, as well as chisel the block while the sheet is attached. I usually use lumber whenever possible to help keep lag down. As with lumber the sheets can also occupy the same space as one another; just use a block beside the place where you want the sheet, place the sheet, and take up the block. I started using sheets decoratively when I played in survival on another server and I had long ago reached colored steel. Now I'm building a town for my own server and I'm seeing where the special TFC materials can take me creatively. Screenshots of our builds are available on our server website and I always welcome new ideas, tips and tricks for building in TFC.

    I use them decoratively all the time. You should play around with them more, there are so many uses for them such as table tops and water tubs. They will hold water but you can still walk through them. As you have said, platinum makes a really neat looking "mirror".

  16. Postcards from EternityTFC Our server has been open for about two weeks now and we have had quite a few people sign up with our website to have a look. So far we have three monthly subscribers and would love to see more. I realize that the monthly fee is a turn off for some, but for about the price of a coke and a candy bar you can play TerraFirmaCraft for thirty days with some really good people. Don't know if you will like the server? It's less than a dollar to try it out for a week. From all of us here at EternityTFC, hope to see you soon.
