      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. [TFC 0.79.13] So many resources, great for beginners

Anyone found Graphite on this seed yet? Can't even find the right rock type yet ] I have a tonne of Hematite and I can't do anything with it until I get me some fire clay. The Limestone was nice enough to give me the Kaolnite I need! just missing the Graphite.
  2. [Build75] Great Starting Seed

I found this seed and it's a great seed in my opinion and limited TFC experience Pics here http://edeneustice.imgur.com/all/ Seed: 7657783041207052747 You start on a shore line with Woods and clay to your South You have large quantaties of Peat to your North and a small Island with a large cavern system and huge copper vein under neath You also have Basalt Plains with large Basalt out croppings that serve as perfect early anvils. The Basalt and Salt Rocks here drop large numbers of Tin and Copper, while the plains regularly spawn random plants and grains as well as hosting large numbers of animals. Reeds and Squids are easily available. Oddly the fresh world I spawned had some different peat/clay deposits to my SMP server but this is what i've done with it so far after a few days play. Spawn The First Shelter Wood Pile New Forge New Bloomery Original Anvil (Basalt Plains)
  3. [Offline][Build75] Open TFC Server

I've got a little 8 man server up and running - Currently open to all but with Chunk Protect enabled to reduce the risk of greifing. Server: 85.236.101.6:31565 (1.5GB Ram, Hosted Virtual Server with expandable bandwidth) Mumble: 85.236.100.59:20187 Auto Reboots every 8 hours. If the server is down for any reason PM me on the forum or email me at [email protected] I'll get it rebooted asap. You will spawn in Dunstable Town, a very small area central to everywhere and with resources to assist those new players that want it. The Road West goes about 1KM to the nearest player town of SweetGrass, a little prairie village run by regular players. CURRENCY The Server currently uses GOLD COINS and DIAMOND COINS as currency. (1Diamond Coin = 64Gold) You can trade the NPC's for coins or get them from quests or occasional Mob Drops. You can craft 1 Diamond Gem into 1 Diamond Coin on a crafting bench. You will need to use a bank or Gem smith to convert Diamond and Gold Coins but every trade center will have one. CHUNKS can be purchased for: 1 Diamond Gem (A flawless gets 2, Exquisite gets 4) or 4 Gems, or (2 Flawless, or 1 Exquisite), if using gems they need to be of a single type. You will be able to buy gems of chipped/flawed quality for Protection meters. MODS Mods on this server are as follows (Click the mod names to go to the relevant web page) Smart Move V12 You don't need this client side if you don't want to use it. Chunk Protect Nothing is needed client side for this. You'll start with 0 Chunks to your name but I will add +1 chunks to regulars once they are set up. You can then purchase further chunks at the following Exchange Rage, Gems in groups must be of the same type. 1x Exquisite Gem 2x Flawless Gems 4x Normal Gems Simply Horses Download to your MODS folder I'm Spawning herds in all the populated areas. Custom NPCs Download to your MODS folder I am going to stick in a bunch of Quest Lines, Trader NPC's and out posts with hirelings etc to get an economy going. Banks There is currently 1 bank operated by Mayor Dunstable in the Town hall. This is secure storage for players without Chunk protection and will allow you to take these items out at any other branch when created. Quests Wandering Rose - Rose, a wandering minstrel has run into some trouble, she can be found by the Town hall in Dunstable Town (AKA Spawn) *status - Part 1 Complete and available* Traders Spawn is the only place with traders at the moment however I plan to add Trading Outposts Traders will trade goods relative to the area level (don't expect to buy STEEL at spawn) Dunstable Trading Depot Located around "The Old Anvil" along the road EAST of Dunstable Town (Spawn) BlackSmith - Copperbottom (Complete) - Located in the Old Anvil Sells tier 0-1 Ore / Charcoal / Ceramic Molds Fresh Produce - (Complete) Buys and Sells Fruit and Veg along with Bread, eggs, milk. Goods can be sold round the side to the delivery boys. Gem Traders - (Complete) Buy Gems of Normal Quality and Upwards and Convert Diamond Coins to Gold and Visa Versa. Livestock Trader - (Complete) Sells Meat, Leather, Wool, Feathers, Animal Eggs) Bank - Coming soon - allows you to store items that can be recovered at another bank of the same branch and convert currency. This is also secure storage for those without Chunk protection yet. Tinkerer / Carpenter - (Complete) Sells Redstone, String, Wood, Glowstone, Hellrock, Sheers, MusicBoxes etc Alchemist - Coming soon - Sells Brewing stands and potion bits. Hirelings I will have an Inn setup in each populated area soon where you can listen to music, buy refreshment, or hire companions. Population We have a regular group of 5 or so players currently so I have no plans to expand the server beyond the 8 slots. If this starts maxing out regularly I'll look into expanding. Simple Rules on the server. I've got the world backed up regularly and can roll back in case of any major issues. You'll Spawn in my grounds as I built around Spawn and this area is protected, I plan to move on soon but will leave the zone protected, you'll need to post here to get added to the list to use the spawn facilities. Let me know your In Game Name (case sensitive) and I'll add you to the protection list. Once added You are welcome to use the facilities (Forge/Bloomery etc) and any starting supplies you may need within reason if you feel you need a kick start but do try to give as well as take when you are established yourself Think of it as a sort of white list lite, anyone can join the server and start from scratch, but to use the facilities at spawn to get a leg up you'll need to be added. This is to combat people logging in, raiding the supplies then never coming back and several incidents of people taking the anvils... Outside of spawn please respect other users property but again chunk protect is enabled so you may not be able to interact with users homes anyway. There is a TownHall of sorts (still going to expand it more later to include more functions) which currently has an Item Library so you can see the various types of Tree/Rock and their stats, and a small map of the surrounding areas.
  4. TFC Tips and Tricks [B75]

So I've gotten a couple tips and some of which I've not seen around that I thought I'd share and would love for others to contribute theirs Log Piles Normally you can only stack log piles vertically if the lower stack is full (16 logs) An easy way round this is to have two log types, put 1 log of type 1 in each of the 4 slots for the lower stack, then place log type 2 on top. As log type 2 can't go into the lower stack it counts as full and lets you build vertically. This means you can go vertical with as little as 4 logs instead of 16. If you want to skim further you can then remove 3 logs from the lower pile Charcoal Pits They are dangerous and will ignite any wood around them even when covered. You can build a Charcoal pit out of Brick instead of mud and it won't collapse after burning the wood inside. You can throw a door into this to make it re-usable and also to viably check progress. You can make a Charcoal pit almost any size but depending on your machine/server you may crash if you make it too large. Forge Once you have created a forge with the stone bricks, you don't as of B75 need to keep the stone bricks there (unlike the bloomery) so can either remove them or chisel them down to save space or create designs like stoves. You can't use this trick to place 2 forges side by side. Chiseled blocks count as air, so if you want to stick a forge somewhere without smacking holes in your building, just "chisel" the blocks above/beside to give the forge access to sky without actually making a hole. Smelting You can place 5 metal items into an Anvil (2 in the Weld slots, 1 in the ingot slot, and 1 in the blueprint slot) and one in the Weld Output slot and they will not cool down, you can use this to store items at workable temperature. To get the item into the weld output slot you need to have the item in your Inventory (NOT your hotbar) and at least the Ingot slot filled already. Shift click the item you want to store and it will pop into the Weld output slot. (Items include Ingots shaped and unshaped, Sheets, Armour, and metal buckets) If you have a partial ingot that has cooled, you can throw it into a bloomery with the same ore type and it will fill up and become liquid, you don't need to heat it first. Tools Creating tools with different rock types all yield "Stone tool X" but you can't combine different types of stone tool for repair so try to stick to one type. Sluices You can use a dispenser on a timer to automatically feed a sluice. Gravity affected blocks You can use wood planks to make a cheap frame work that will stop gravity affected blocks falling. Blocks also are less likely to fall if connected to other blocks on more sides so when building along a drop (for example leveling off ground) try to place blocks so they are connected to as many other blocks to the side and behind as possible If you spam place Gravity affected blocks in a vertical stack, you will often be left with floating blocks Cave ins If you need to hollow out a large area without supports, cutting round the edge of the area starting from the top round then, slicing the top layer connecting the "block" to the ceiling, then working down will leave you with a free standing block that can be harvested at will without risk of cave in. (there is still some risk of cave in while carving it out but greatly minimized) Ores -WARNING SPOILERS - MAY MAKE ORE FINDING TOO EASY Ores seem to be heaviest around depth Y60 Limited Water With Wooden buckets if you empty it into an area bigger than approx 4 blocks the water will simply vanish, you can segment an area using dirt blocks and fill up the pockets then remove the blocks once done. Water Building You can't place certain blocks like cobble underwater, however if you can place a block above the water line, you can then put cobble along side and it will fall into the water. Storage Steel Buckets can be Stored in Anvils (they can't be put in chests or on tool racks) Armour can be Stored in Anvils (they can't be put in chests or on tool racks) Redstone Chiseled blocks act like glass. So you can use them on redstone circuits as "diodes". Lighting Chiseled blocks act like glass. So you can use them to create glowing walkways or walls Farming You get more items harvesting with a Hoe than with bare hands! Interesting Bugs Using the /Time Set [Day/Night] Command (at least on SMP) resets the year as well as time! This will also stunt plant/tree growth. if you chisel the blocks in front of a door down just 1 slab, you can't get in the door from the chiseled DOWN block but you can go through it from the other side creating a one way door. (or slab both sides to make it unusable) Flowing water will force gates/doors shut as soon as you open them When you get floating tree blocks left after cutting down a tree (common with Willow trees), if it's a single block, knocking off the leaves will often trigger the wood block to drop saving you some Axe use (and time) If you right click charcoal at the top of a bloomery (say when trying to open a trap door with charcoal in your hand) it will "place" the charcoal in the bloomery shaft (bottom) breaking the bloomery and destroying any Charcoal/Ore that was smelting at the time!
  5. I'll ask bob to clarify that little detail as your right if you're not a modder that's easy to mis-understand! As for the crash it sounds like it's having trouble with something in the area but I don't know enough to work out what from that log, can't be the NPC's or you would have crashed straight away.... Hopefully some of the smarter folk here will be able to help.....
  6. There is a train craft config file you need to replace also, HERE It should be in your Configs folder.
  7. You're already helping and just single handedly got a new feature implemented into all future quest lines =p While I have a few quest lines on the to do list including some that really need noopes to get to his to-do list on the NPC mod if you have any particular ideas you'd like to see implemented let me know, if they work out I'll be sure to name an item/npc after ya =
  8. TL:DR at bottom Now now I think it's understandable from both sides Whilst I understand it sounds a silly thing to have done , having seen where you set up your bed I can understand why you thought it safe there and it was just a clever idea gone wrong as it was within two of the mobs Aggro bubble and I've set the NPC's to "co-operate" so aggro one then chain aggro the rest in the vicinity so it went very wrong for you very fast and repeatedly so! (The mob aggro behavior is intended as they are a pirate crew after all) I also understand how stuff like this can be very frustrating though I think the point Imrav was trying to make is that there are better ways to express that and get a solution I think we should agree to chalk this up to experience. Seeing as people clearly want staging zones and will create them if they aren't provided, I'll create these as part of the stage from now on so people can avoid this sort of issue. It was an oversight on my part as of course people don't want to die then have to trek miles back from their home to the quest zone! So sincerely, thank YOU for your sacrifice, it will make things better! Naturally you can still create your own camps if you want but do so entirely at your own risk If you haven't already smashed the bed or gotten safe, I'll sort you out when online (approx 3 hours from this post), get your gear back, and get you back to where you want to setup "spawn". If you want to continue the pirate quest (Which I'll have finished in about 3 hours after I login based on previous quest lines) I'll get you to the new Staging zone for this quest stage which is a Navy boat just off the shore line and safe with storage chests for you to stow any kit you don't want to lose though again, use these at your own risk! For peoples information - I'll be making two types of quests basically. For the older school D&D type fans who don't mind risking their kit or dying and enjoy a quest and story line as much as reward, who can keep a calm head and problem solve without the answer on a plate, there will be some dungeons for you that require you to explore, observe, and use your head For the more modern WOW type cookie crumb quests/rewards types there will be quests and dungeons for you also (Basically if you would rather have a solid objective than have to make your own entertainment with the basic bones given to you by a GM) (Sewers are an example of what will be D&D type, traps, and non obvious, work it out yourself type quests) (Rose quest line will be a more, zone to zone, farm quests and rewards progressive style line that will be more direct and more directly rewarding, a good way for new or low tech players to get higher tier gear but it will take time in place of high risk!) TL:DR I understand why you made camp where you did, it was unfortunate you got caught out in one of the mobs aggro range and it went horribly wrong horribly fast for you. It's pointed out stuff I need to factor into quest lines, thank you!, will sort you out if you still want to play here, I'll be online 3 hours from this post at the latest.
  9. I'd like to apologise for my lack of presence the last few days, hectic real life but will have my red bull tonight and do a marathon session to tie up outstanding quest lines that I've been promising to finish for days!
  10. Hey fellah, sorry you had a bad experience with the quest line and I can assure you our entire thought process behind these quests is player enjoyment, you can always reach out to me via PM or in game if you have problems and I'll be there to assist. I'll throw up a separate thread for quest feedback. No offense meant but you sound fairly young, that's in no way an insult I assure you as I host a separate server with a lot of young players and I simply make the observation as I've noticed they tend to be after different things and get frustrated more easily with some things which I will have to factor into future quest lines as I want to have fun content for all players (some will be hard and reward you only with story, some will be easier more viscerally rewarding for the younger folk) I took feed back from the Cinnabar quest line (which I myself found hard in Iron Armour) and have tried to start off my quest lines so that they are a bit more forgiving, with difficulty scaling up later into the chain and I regularly tweak mob Health/damage/drops based on player feed back and all my quest lines so far have been solo'd and indeed farmed by Iron tier players with several tweaks made (and players refunded items) when they ran into bugs or bits that were unfairly deadly, I can only ask you bare with us through quests when they are new and we iron out bits as at the end of the day we are in the early stages of this and learning as we go. If you are the fellow in question who had the bed in the middle of the hostile camp, in future you can destroy the bed on re-spawn and then next time you'll pop back to default spawn, not ideal maybe but at least then you can carry on until an admin comes on to review and help you get your items back. (If I recall I did slay the pirates for you and you got to the beach but I should have followed up and destroyed the bed for you also) I'd like to point out that I deliberately try to keep hostile camps "out of the way" so they don't affect players normally but I have noticed a few players making chests/beds around camp locations to farm or to better recover items if they die, in your case I saw you chose the caves under the hostiles as nothing spawns there which was a clever idea in theory but sadly you were within aggro range of the mobs above who dropped down on you which was an unfortunate but understandable mistake. With this in mind I'll actually start building in staging areas to my quest line where you can stow items and sleep and you'll know it's safe given players are doing this ANYWAY (and littering up my quest areas i may add!! *grumble*) I don't want to make things TOO easy on players so will always balance this out but hope you understand that while we try to make quest lines fun rewarding and engaging, we are building a system on top of another system and there will be...issues...occasionally and custom content is to be engaged with at your own risk, I'll update my post in the front page to clarify.
  11. Yo Dawg, i heard you like mods so I put mod in your mods so you can mod while you mod!
  12. Lol Kwick realised that as chiseled blocks act as air he could shove a dispenser in a carved block so it looks like a cannon but still fires like a dispenser with FIre charges It's an amazing effect
  13. I just wanted to post some screens of Kwik007's work on the Pirates quest line. When he offered to help stage build I had no idea he would excel so much and had to share it with all http://imgur.com/a/cAVr8#0 The working carved cannons and figure heads truly blew me away
  14. I'm PsychoCannon (you can call me Cannon for short) and I'll be taking care of the Quests lines and some NPC's on the server If any quests being build need a stage built, I'll post it here in case anyone wants to Volunteer. Current Requirements: Filled. Roanoke Quest system We use Noppes Custom NPC mod to create quests. Most longer quest lines will have "safe points" where you can sleep and securely store your items with "Bank" NPC's Please be aware any items stored here are at your own risk and any custom content you engage in is also at your own risk though admins will normally help you out and restore your gear if you encounter a bug or the like. My Ethos is quests should be challenging and fun but the rewards not damaging to the server balance. Many dungeons will involve traps though I will avoid instant death traps (though if you are low health I can't guarantee your saftey!) If you are getting to an area that requires a group, you'll know it as difficulty will ramp up as you approach so you shouldn't be taken totally by surprise! I will not force players to use Smart move however there will be some routes/content you can only reach with it enabled and you will need a sharp eye to find all the secrets and sometimes the NPC's will drop hints when there are secret (optional) rewards to be found. (You'll never find my shiny!! *Grin*) I'm updating the quests descriptions to give players a better idea of what to expect from each as below: Please give any feedback here: Quest Name/Details: The quest name and a breakdown of the story Difficulty: *****(1) A simple 5 star system to give players an idea of what to expect with the number of players recommended in brackets * easy for any level ** At least Leather and sword recommended *** Iron Recommended **** Challenging Solo ***** You may want friends or Enchanted high end gear and Bandages! Start: (X, Y, Z) NPC Name The location and NPC/Item that starts the quest Chain Notes: Any pertinent notes. Current Quests Wandering Rose A wandering bard is in need of assistance Part1 Difficulty: * (1) Start:Outside Whiterock (Spawn) - NPC: Rose Status: Part 1 Complete Part 2 Pending A Pirates Life For Me The town of Ollacille is beset by Pirates, will you help the Navy fight them off or side with the Pirates Part1 Start:Ollacille Docks Difficulty: *** (1) Status: Part 1 Navy Complete Part 1 Pirates Complete Part 2 Navy Complete Part 2 Pirates Pending Notes: You can fast travel from Oolacile docks to the Navy staging boat (and back) by speaking to Captain Kwink, his boat can be boarded by ladder at the front of the ship. There are beds in the bottom of the ship and the First Mate will act as a bank to Securely store items if you want. Something Stinks The Sewers will be a dungeon comprising several mini quests inside - may be the location of larger quest lines later Smart moving is recommended but not required, there will be traps as well as hidden secrets. I plan to have a large beast in the bowels that will take a group to take down, and a mysterious cult making their home here also. Start: The Sewers en route to Ollacille Difficulty: Varies as you get deeper! from **(1) upto *****(1) with some plans for Group end bosses later. Status: Stage Building in progress
  15. The OLD Roanoke Thread

woah I'm so sorry I replied to the wrong topic XD - I have no idea or say in the Roanoake reboot schedule so so so so sorry (dangers of replying to email updates on packed tube train!)
  16. The OLD Roanoke Thread

It's got an auto reboot schedule but I need to figure out how to set it so it gives you a warning before hand, right now it just reboots =/ Other than that it's usually out of memory errors but I'll keep submitting the crash logs and hope things improve
  17. The OLD Roanoke Thread

What are the IRC details for TFCRoanoake Been an age since I used IRC and not sure what server/node you're on I'll Finish the Pirate quest line tonight and reset the data for anyone that already did it so you can do the full version.
  18. The OLD Roanoke Thread

lol you can CTRL mouse wheel to zoom in but it was really to give folks a view of the scope of it It still won't be crystal clear but if you anyone REALLY wants it I'll upload the excel spreadsheet. I'm aware of a few discrepancies with the text and what have you that need to be ironed out but I'll get round to that on implementation
  19. The OLD Roanoke Thread

Just in case anyone wants to see what an NPC quest mapped out looks like and why the pirate quest is taking me 3 days of lunch breaks to get sorted (with stage and actor building in the evenings) - this is the Pirate NPC quest mapped out as it will be when it's finished. Spoiler Warning naturally I expect this part of the quest line to last most folks about...10 minutes =p http://i.imgur.com/T5fhJD3.jpg
  20. The OLD Roanoke Thread

Ok the Pirate Quest Pt1 is up in Oolacille (+17993 -12792 145 from Admiral Jake) The quest can be accepted and completed however I will a "Diplomatic" option to complete the quest tommorow along with a branching option to side with the Pirates instead of the navy should you so wish. This will then branch into one of two quest lines which will ultimately award you a uniquely named top end boat and other goodies, but don't expect it to be too easy
  21. The OLD Roanoke Thread

Don't see why not will check bob et al are happy with Dynamite and then sort it out. I have a tinker quest line coming up anyway so makes sense to add it to him
  22. The OLD Roanoke Thread

I will slaughter you all like mewling LAMBS BEFORE A SATANIC COMBINE HARVESTER!!! But until then, keeping busy =p, new Quest line will be up in Oolania tonight and it's my first attempt at a branching quest line with this NPC mod. It will be easier if/when Noopes gets round to the dynamic factions update (on his to do list) but until then I think I have a method that will work... All I'm going to say is thank god for spreadsheets....
  23. The OLD Roanoke Thread

    Fantastic stuff
  24. The OLD Roanoke Thread

Heya, I intend to do some quest lines that will give players a reason to travel (and indeed learn of and discover) other towns and the features there in. I hope to start working with the town members to this effect as I don't want to send waves of adventurers to towns that prefer to remain hmm...secluded Likewise for those that do want to have quest lines I'd like to work with the towns folks to ensure the quests are in keeping with their townships and highlight any features or services they have to offer Ping me in game or on the forum (which just emails me at [email protected]) if you want to discuss further
  25. The OLD Roanoke Thread

Ok was off this weekend for Chinese New Year (恭禧發財) Will get back on tonight (after updating for new mods etc) and start working on stuff again
