Only help if you can be helpful

Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

  1. Barely... I've terraformed that location sooo much! lol Gonna make your home there?
  2. Took me long enough, but I've finally entered caves in order to begin the hunt for more resources before the Spring farming season kicks off! This video features immersive audio editing that captures the ambience of the environment! Hope you guys and gals enjoy! I also now have a Twitter:[email protected] Keep an eye out for hashtags that correspond to the events going on! Thanks for Watching!
  3. Hello, it's that time again, and this time I'M NOT CHEATING! Thanks to everyone who has watched so far, the channel growth has picked up and doing well! Synopsis:It's early winter in TerraFirmaCraft, and there's a lot to do still before the snow and ice really set in. For today, the plan this episode is to get the metal working shed up and operational. But getting the resources is fairly difficult, and that mighty /gamemode 1 is looking pretty nice by now… Will Jmcm16 cheat?
  4. [0.79] Stacking support beams to maximize ore mining

Hmm... Sounds like an amazing adventure map! And TFC would work as a great base for it!
  5. [0.79] Stacking support beams to maximize ore mining

There was an old channel that has now been more inactive as of late, but it consisted of a man who would actually go down in mines and document them on his camera: Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places His YouTube channel was what I used for references when I build my own mines (adapted of course to the game mechanics, most of the mines he enters has relatively less timbering (supports) than what a typical TFC mine would have), and I highly recommend if you are interested in mining history to check out his channel! He's explored mines that are100+ years old! Perhaps slightly more modern mines than what TFC would be aiming for, but it works great!
  6. [0.79] Stacking support beams to maximize ore mining

Interesting mine construction choices! Mine typically resemble real mines in that I build a portal (entrance) above ground leading to an inclined shaft. From there, I target the vein by ProPick, and mine out a stope (hollowed area) from which I extract the vein. Is it efficient? Not really... Is it cost effective? Perhaps not as much. But it does feel realistic
  7. Yee-Haw! We're going on a round-up to gather us some cattle! But it's way down south towards the mine, so it's a perilous trail ride of an episode! Synopsis:Cue the Overture! Jmcm16 heads out into the Great Wilderness, hoping to turn his cave settlement into a working ranch! Upgrades take place in the back of the house, as well as the construction of his pasture in preparation of receiving stock from the south. But be warned, as many dangers lay in wait for anyone who dares to drive cattle on the beach!
  8. Wow! The channel has grown at a tremendous rate, and in honor of Father's Day, I get to enjoy an episode with my own dad, who's never played Minecraft (let alone TerraFirmaCraft) before! Synopsis: In the spirit of holiday cheer and dad jokes, TRM50 (aka, my dad) joins up for me in his very first adventure in TerraFirmaCraft (and Minecraft!) Things start off a bit laggy at the start, but don't worry, it clears up real quick with a bang!
  9. New Upload! So far, the channel has gotten over 200 channel views total! I didn't expect that out of just 5 videos! Once again, we've got a new episode and this time, we're going mining far away!
  10. Time sure does fly! Episode 3 has been released this morning, and I would like to take time to say thanks to everyone so far who has watched the series to this point, supporting my work by watching, liking, and subscribing! If you like what you see, and want to see more, feel free to subscribe and ding the notification bell to get the latest on when I'm uploading, because there's more in store when I can press the red recording button once more!
  11. Helloeveryone here at TFC Forums! I am starting a let's play series in Terrafirmacraft that is also using the Antique Atlas mod! The initial goal will be to survive the first winter and build up a decent base (and hopefully not flee from it first thing out!) A trailer for the channel and series is up, and the first Episode premieres tomorrow morning, and will be releasing weekly every Saturday Morning. I'm not an expert at Terrafirmacraft, so please leave comments on videos so I can be more informed. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and ring the notification bell to be able to know exactly when more episodes are released, because there's always more in store when I can press the red recording button once more! Thanks for reading! YouTube Channel Link: Antique Atlas:
