      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Information embargo? Why? Also, "Hard" does not equal good.

I understand what he is saying... Ex: Smithing. It varies on world seed, but only world seed. It should vary on other factors as well, like temps, ore types, how accurately you hammered out an ingot, etc. This way, its not a matter of finding out the one hit pattern that always works on that world from that point forward. The skill should be knowing how to make a perfect tool in any situation, not just the one condition that works for that world.
  2. Terrafirmacraft on Technic Launcher

It's not the permissions thing, its the overblown community reaction everytime the word "Technic" is said anywhere near the words "Pack" or "Launcher". Considering that the Technic Pack started as a privately made modpack, which got out of hand due to enormous popularity, and considering that the latest technic packs actually do have mod permissions detailed to such a ridiculous degree (I'm waiting for the first modmaker to require notirized paperwork for permissions), I wouldn't bring the torches and pitchforks out every time the word is mentioned. Technic Pack also supplied a Bukkit-Forge at one time, which allowed Bukkit plugins to work in the Tekkit SMP. For server admins, like me, it made it a lot easier to manage the modded servers. In fact, without BF, it's just another anarchy setup. I've seen the biggest multiplayer servers leverage a modular launcher to use their own modpack with BF compatibility. Also consider that the Technic Packs themselves had very good support in terms of block ID compatibility and world conversion tools (in case block ID's had to change), so instead of spewing troll-level hatred everytime you hear that word, just let it go. The whole thing's blown way out of porportion is what I'm saying. If Bioxx doesn't want his mod in the Technic Launcher, so be it, end of story. Just download yet another launcher jar for this mod.
  3. Terrafirmacraft on Technic Launcher

Wow, still pulling out torches and pitchforks over it? Back in my game modding days, we never had even a tenth of the drama the Minecraft community has over these things. Just sayin'.
  4. How do you reduce lagz?

1: Right-click an empty part of your Desktop and click Screen Resolution. Then, click Change Advanced Settings. The window that pops up will tell you what graphics card you have. 2: Open up Control Panel, click Device Manager, click the ► next to Display Adapters, and read off what it says there. If it says "Intel" anything, full stop. It's Integrated Graphics, and the worst of them all. If it says nVidia or AMD or ATi, look at the model number and tell us it. For future reference: The second number in the model number is the performance grade, higher is better. Example, ATi Radeon 3200, the first number is 3 (the generation), the second number is 2 (low performance grade, always integrated graphics). I have a ATi (AMD) Radeon 5830, the 5 is the generation, the 8 is performance level. It's one down from the top end of performance. This rule holds true with nVidia numbering. A GeForce GT 610 is slow as balls, but a GT 640 can almost keep up with my 5830, despite being a cheap graphics card, and a GTX 680 is a monster. For gaming laptops, you need to shell out almost $1000 for one with a good graphics card in it. If you don't have that much money, your best bet is an AMD A8 or A10 (2nd Generation, 7-series graphics) laptop, as these laptops have very good APU Graphics that make the Intel Integrated Graphics found in the numerous and comparable systems look very slow, and can be got for between $450 and $650. I know someone that has a A8 laptop that runs Minecraft and it absolutely flies. Do not get into an Intel vs. AMD argument. Intel Processors are faster, but Intel Integrated Graphics suck so bad that the processing power is never fully realized in gaming, because the graphics card is holding it back. The best system obviously is an Intel Core i3 or i5 system with a dedicated graphics card (no integrated graphics!), but as stated, it runs up the price to over $900.
  5. New Health and Medicine System

The point between annoying and realistic is the diffrence between using absolute math and introducing random factor. For example, at X height, you break leg. That is true on an average, but there are many variables that come into play with making it more or less extreme. Le Parkour, for example. The only way to "simulate" such a thing without making it obvious that one inch too high is bad, is to use a damage percentage that starts at minimum injury distance and increases the chance of injury exponentially past that, making certain leaps risky, but not absolute as to bad / not bad. This in addition to how much damage (or instadeath) is taken past the definite injury line, where there is no question that it's gonna hurt falling that far.
  6. BlockID Consistency

If that were true, you would be forced to start a new game on every update. Mods have to update each time because of code obfuscation, not necessarily block IDs. Minecraft block IDs stay the same, and new vanilla items introduced might take IDs used by existing mods, which is where problems come in. Leaving a buffer for block IDs that might be used later prevents that to an extent.
  7. Forestry and TerrafirmaCraft

Can you run forestry separate? Some mods require Java 7 and won't run in Java 6 (which is what you have)
  8. BlockID Consistency

One of the major things about upgrading TFC is that BlockIDs are different every time. This means a lot of extra work, especially if you have to clean install (like when the launcher derps and loads Vanilla) to get the update to work, just to connect to a server with an existing setup. Every time I update, I have to start anew, and every time I don't even get close to my Copper Anvil before having to start all over. It would be prudent to come up with a BlockID solution and then stick with it, not changing BlockIDs (only adding new ones) every update.
