      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. You're standing on top of the hitbox of your house, which is now an airship. If you can get off it you'll get to stage 2, which is making your house not an airship, which consists of you or a player in creative getting into it and using the overwrite command. This is safer than it sounds.
  2. Jump off the edge and aim for the water. It'll take a few tries.
  3. Where Are The Chickens?

Our server recently launched an airship expedition across the equator in hopes of finding a breeding pair of chickens in the southern jungle. No chickens, or evidence of chickens, was ever found. I did find feathers once though early in my career, halfway up a mountain north of the equator. It looked like a chicken had spawned and immediately died. There was also a claimed sighting of a live chicken well within the habitated continents a few days ago but an elite team of tactical chicken-hunters found nothing and the incident is suspected to be a hoax. On our server, chickens belong in the same mysterious league of cryptozoological beasts as the Tibetan yeti and the creature known as the bear.
  4. Blast Mining

I got mad at an incredibly diffuse garnierite vein, so I found the approximate center and blew it up.This was incredibly satisfying. Take that, annoyingly distributed virtual minerals!
  5. Agriculture Question not on wiki

If I'm around a lot I can get two wheat crops in a year on a server, and maybe three if I timed it perfectly or lived south of the frost line. I rotate my crops. Garlic and greenbeans seem to grow faster than wheat.
  6. Blast Mining

Basically blowing things up is fun, but TFC tends to not have late-game PVP.TFC servers are seldom violent enough to justify powder kegs as weapons. It takes a certain level of maturity to not ragequit by the third night, and advanced players have a lot of time and effort to lose very quickly if they go to war. It's actually a pretty interesting social experiment. The worst that'll happen on a TFC server is a starving peasant breaking down your doors to steal your greenbeans, not trololol your base is now lava like it would be in vanilla. It's also very different from FTB, where everybody's zipping around in power armor with stacks of TNT or nukes looking for bases to vaporize. It's nice. It's like moving from the hood to a nice neighborhood. If I'm not going to blow up noobs with my gunpowder (well, maybe a few) then what shall I do with it? Fireworks? Eh. Mining though, that's a good use. I just wish it were a bit cheaper and left a nice round hole.
  7. Blast Mining

Spawn protection forms in a 3x3 chunk square centered on the player, so 17 blocks away if you stand on the edge of the center chunk. Mobs don't start spawning until 22 blocks away. It could be overcome. That's obviously not how you are supposed to play the game but you'd get bronze and copper gear, potatoes, wrought iron ingots etc.
  8. Booze

So I have this barrel of whiskey (seal wheat grain in a barrel of water) but I'm not sure how to drink it. Do I need a glass bottle?
  9. Forgotten Beasts

I haven't tested to see if it is compatible, but Infernal Mobs by AtomicStryker doesn't add random appearances, but it does add random NBT powers and slightly better loot to some mobs that serve as minibosses. 1 in 20 zombies might have regeneration or teleportation or something else that will throw you off. Depending on what tags a mob gets you can either laugh it off or watch a sheep go Super Saiyan. Grimoire of Gaia 2 is also interesting and truly kicked my ass in PvE but the creator is busy doing college stuff and the mod hasn't updated in a while.
  10. Suggestion: Bessemer process

The first part of TF progression is really fun, in a Dwarf Fortress sort of !fun! way. Survival is actually hard, and getting as far as the bronze age without ragequitting is an accomplishment. Good for you. However, after you get some metal equipment you don't die much anymore and you find yourself spending more and more time fiddling with the anvil interface and punching bellows. It does not get better. In fact, it gets worse the further up the alloy progression tree you go. You get minor bragging rights with your friends for going there but not much changes. There's tedium and then there's tedium that rewards you. The first part of the progression was fun because there was a reward that made many of the frustrating aspects of gameplay slightly easier and also unlocked more creative possibilities. _________________________________________________________________________ Making steel was hard in real life. It really did take forever with the bloomeries and the hammering and mixing metals and not using coal coke for some of the steps because of the impurities which required a lot of woodcutting etc. It was an outlandishly expensive material that not just anybody could afford to own. A man named Henry Bessemer decided to change that. I'm going to guess the creators are already materials science nerds and know what Bessemer did for the world and how it worked, but it was a way to burn off impurities and reduce the carbon content of pig iron down to the desired level by blowing air through liquid iron in a large clay or dolomite vat. Say, I've got dolomite, a bellows and liquid iron just staring me in the face in this game. A fellow could. This would be a reasonable reward for playing through the pain, and endgame crafting would be manageable. I would also like an upgraded bellows and an endgame alternative to clay molds, like a reusable red steel ladle. Oh, and more cool creative things you can only do at the end of the progression as rewards. Thanks Santa, I'll be good just for this.
  11. Finding coal, ore depth general

So if you're in the bronze age you're probably craving two things to advance: coal and iron. Sedimentary layers that are near the surface seem to have zero useful minerals or ores. I think coal, limonite, magnetite etc only occur below a certain depth (~80?). However, I have also found no coal while exploring really deep sedimentary caves near the bottom layer of the map (<40). The iron ores seem to go all the way down but from what I have seen coal only exists on a relatively narrow band between 80 and 40. Is this right?
  12. This server... just holy bleep. The things the author added (magic, horses, NPCs etc) add even more depth. Get on here.
  13. This server is DEAD. As in, down and not coming back up again. I knew the owner (TheMap) and talked with him on TeamSpeak after the server had been down for a while. The plug has been pulled and there are no plans for another TC server. ... this guy has a bad habit of finding a new game or a new mod, setting up a server, playing for five days and then moving on to another. He's not really a bad admin, just ADHD, and it doesn't mix well with games that require a long time to get started. I am kind of annoyed by this.
