      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Update Frequency Poll

I voted for 2 months. It's about 4 months that I stopped playing, perhaps a little burned out from all the digging I had to do to make 3 crucibles... I noticed that about 2 months ago I started popping in to see if there was any new update. I think that with an update every 2 months I could play until I get tired and get right back in with the next one.
  2. a compromise on this could be something along this lines: When you chop down a tree 80% of current log drops like normal, together with a few "branches" items, 4 to 8 for each tree. You can then work branches with a scythe (I assume the devs use the scythe as an all purpose replacement for a billhook) or an axe (with double tool consumption) to get some sticks and the remaining 20% of the logs. if you need saplings you can work the branches with a knife instead, getting some sticks and saplings but losing the logs. The branch item should be placeable just like the logs, it would make the experience for the lumberjack among us quite a bit more immersive
  3. All up for that, we should get a fresh seed and climb up again from the stone age, it's the best part
  4. Gems?

My excursion in the nether are often deadly anyways... but I would really like to see your take on the "alternate dimension"... In any case I would rather see some higher tech stuff than intrinsically magic things, I like the feeling of working hard to get to the next step, and in this sense magic always feels like cheating
  5. Placeable leaves

I found out about this when I wanted to build a tree house, I accidentally killed some leaves and there was nothing green I could place to cover up D:
  6. works like a charm!
  7. I can't seem to be able to reach the new server, still setting it up or am I fucking things up?
  8. Nickname in Minecraft: Antor Age: 24 Location: Italy Fluent english: Mamma mia! What a perfect server for you would be like: I would like to be able to play like in single player but have people around to help and be helped What you would bring to our cozy little community: mmm I'm good at digging straight up... also do you run the latest version of TFC for 1.6.2? or do I need to downgrade?
  9. Gems?

I have two option for gemstone usage: 1) use the gem into armor building as a refining end step, either just to give you +100 swag points or to add magical proprieties to the armor itself (and before anybody complains about realism that's what many gemstones are used for real! google "gemstone magic" and behold 6M+ results). 2) let us place the gems in piles on the floor so we can jump in and swim in them.
  10. Roman-style aqueducts and lead pipes

well, thanks! the more you know... there is also something interesting in that article, the use of clay pipes :D we do have clay in TFC!
  11. Roman-style aqueducts and lead pipes

I think it would be cool to at least have some high up spring water blocks, waterfalls and little rivers are severely lacking in TFC, also lead is poisonous, the Romans just didn't have the life expectancy to really notice. XD Even just the springs would make most of the things you want to do possible, just playing with the height difference... I can already picture some pretty neat things like some hanging gardens with waterfalls allover the places ^3^
  12. Olivine, useless ore

ok, after a more accurate research I've found that Olivine is used mostly as a flux in blast furnaces, a prized one at that, other uses include the production of refractory bricks for thermal energy storage in electric furnaces source:http://www.google.com/patents/US4303448;http://www.google.com/patents/US3966456 now I'm a sad pony
  13. Olivine, useless ore

This evening to fight boredom I was digging straight down under my house, out of nowhere I find a shit-ton of Olivine ore, a bit disappointed of the result of my digging I decided to find out exactly why Olivine is deemed useless. I found out that Olivine is used as a refractory in blast furnaces. Why not use the Olivine to produce refractory bricks to make the blast furnace? it could be as simple as (stone brick+Olivine sand = refractory briks). It could even stand as a substitute of graphite in the fire-clay formula, as far as I know the graphite works as refractory material. PS: I also found out that Selenite, Satin-spar and gypsum are basically the same thing so I don't see why I need to suffer 3 times instead of one when I find them...(sourcehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selenite_(mineral))
  14. Molten copper from ingots

oh crap, the forge! I don't know why I was under the impression I needed a chisel to make a forge -_-" thanks a bunch!
  15. Molten copper from ingots

I just started my first world in the new build (awesome btw) and after a bit of wandering around I found enough copper to get 2 full molds. when I got my vessel full of melted copper I realized I didn't make any tool casting mold and quickly made and cooked them. sadly by then my copper was alredy solid in the molds, I tried re-heating on a fireplace but with only kapok available it's impossible, then I thought to myself:"if I can melt ores I can surely melt ingots with a kiln" but to my great dismay I found out it's not true. My question is at this point, do I venture out and kick some more stones to get enough copper for a second batch or there is a way to use my ingots?
