      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Suspend Decay on preserved food

Can't we just drastically decrease the decay rate of properly preseved food (pickled cheese etc), and leave fresh food as it is? The incentive here would be to keep all fresh food in one pantry so that when someone comes online he can take it all and preserve it, while leaving any new fresh food he finds in the pantry so that anyone that comes online will find it and preserve it. Tldr: I suggest massively decreasing the decay rate of all high-end preserved foods
  2. Improving TFC Terrain Generation

If we make the world finite, is the any way to make the world loop back at its edges?
  3. I am a proficient lurker on this forum. I have been visiting it at least once per day for years. I'm 100% sure that there are many others like me.
  4. Best of Luck Dunk

    That's prejudice!
  5. Use for Obsidian?

How about making obsidian knives, javelins and arrows deal a lot of extra damage versus wildlife?
  6. Use for Obsidian?

The best use for obsidian would be to use it as it as a special stone for making arrows, javelins , knives and axes (slicing and percing). Make their damage twice as much as the best stone damage, and give it half the uses.
  7. Prevent grass growth

I am trying to imagine in what circumstance would you need to modify the code in order to achieve this effect. Grass only spreads to adjacent blocks so it's very easy to control grass growth with non-dirt blocks. If you really need to have adjacent grass with dirt, just use gravel instead.
  8. Chisel: staircase corner and more

    Congratulations! Great change!
  9. I wish could die of thirst

Since when single player I play exclusively Hardcore, I can tell you from experience that a max health of 50 is almost certain death if you don't eat/drink soon. This change has removed a lot of tedium and random dying because of bad spawn from Hardcore single player, while keeping 99% of the danger of starvation/dehydration. Props to the devs for this. Bravo!
  10. Ceramic bowls - another tedium

From where I stand this should be the bowl progression: 1. Wodden bowl - is consumed after each use 2. Ceramic bowl - has a chance to break after each use, the chance gets smaller after each breaking (starts from 20%, gets smaller by 1%, stops at 1%) 3. Metallic bowl - never breaks I would also make them placeable objects that you can stack in a pile like ingots, but that's just me being crazy
  11. Torch Discussion

Not quite so. Since you can relight it indefinitely (which is not realistic but believable enough), I'm sure it's believable enough for a burned out torch to count as a stick. I stick to my sticky cause! Maybe we will have more uses for sticks in the future. You can never be too safe!
  12. Minecraft was a pretty stangnant pool for years now. The way they chose to manage their company was abysmal. The only things keeping Minecraft afloat were the modding communities and the thousands of servers that run it. This is a huge powder keg that could go anywhere. If Microsoft is smart and use the community to its advantage, they can both give real direction for Minecraft and realise its true potential. Of course they could be dumb and waste it, but that would be incredibly insane. And yes, Minecraft is easily worth $2.5 billion in the long run.
  13. [Added] Colored pots

Proposed solution: clay Vessel/Jug + dye = colored clay Vessel/Jug Fire up and be done
  14. Torch Discussion

The burned out torches should drop a stick. Seems common sense to me...
  15. [Added] Colored pots

I think this is a very neat idea. I hope it's not a huge hassle to implement...
  16. Topple the pillars!

I am a hardcore player and I enjoy trying to survive in TFC until my inevitable demise. There are various ways you can cheese the game to allow you to survive when you otherwise shouldn't have. While digging a hole can be cheesy, it can still be challenging to get out of the hole without being killed by a creeper or an armoured mob. The pillars, however, are inexcusable. There is no drawback to this strategy. Just gather a lot of thatch in the first day, make sure you got some food and that there's fresh water nearby, and at the end of the day, pillar up to a safe hight. This strategy has NEVER failed me. The reason I am picking on pillaring is that it both kills believability and it is very easy to fix(conceptually at least): Don't allow the placing of blocks while jumping. Without this strategy, players will be forced to develop actual survival skills, not to mention building skills (scaffoldings and the like... yum). Discuss! TLRD: End the tyranny of pillars: don't allow placing blocks while jumping! P.S. I know you can still make 2-blocks wide pillars by placing blocks on the side of the first column, move on it, pace block on the first column, jump on it, rinse and repeat; this, however, takes a lot more time and requires you to gather twice as much thatch, making it more of a hassle than it's worth. [EDIT] - I see this topic has been discussed to death in another thread two years ago... you may close this
  17. Topple the pillars!

Apparently the problem a lot of people in that thread complained about is that if you fall down a 1 block hole without a pick, you are stuck forever... I would consider that a fair trade, but hey... that's just me
  18. Forests on the equator

Am I too dumb to understand what this means?
  19. Forests on the equator

I was thinking about the same thing when I found out about the worldgen mechanic. Give us deserts mostly on the tropics, and huge forests mostly at the equator. That would make a lot more sense.
  20. B79 provides an update for the tips ......

I think that he is suggesting the following: 1. Delete prospector pick 2. Obtain ore indication by breaking a block with your pick. Instead of the ProPick small to very large reading you will get small ores. The larger the reading the larger the number of small ores. I presume in this scenario the small ores would have much smaller quantities of mineral than the vein blocks.
  21. I have another suggestion. Loose cobblestone / Compact cobblestone Loose cobblestone = exactly the one we have now Compact cobblestone = the old cobblestone, made from Cobble, which is a rock shaped a bit by knapping Knapping recipe for Cobble XOOOX OOOOO OOOOO OOOOO XOOOX This mechanism is intended to make players craft just as much cobble as they need, as it taks a while to make it. SO it's not OP at all. Feedback? Edit: probably the Compact cobble will have a different look, slightly blockyer
  22. I have some feedback regarding chicken breeding. Unlike the other animals, chickens will breed automatically without player interference as long as the chunk is loaded. This is what causes some chicken pens to get out of control. If the owner goes away for a while if is possible for the pen to explode int chaos. The only way to stop this is for the owner to destroy the nest boxes before becoming inactive. Just a heads up!
  23. How to plant Jute??

Crops need a minimal temperature in order to grow. Make sure it's not to cold. If it's too cold wait for spring and plant it then. Some crops can survive winter while young, check the Agriculture page on the wiki.
  24. COOKING RE-DO

I find the taste mix idea simply brilliant! Nice job!
  25. Depth and temperature

Let TMP = ambient temperature as it is being calculated now (in Celsius) and DEG = ambient temperature proposed by me (in Celsius) I propose this formula: If (Stability>0) DEG = TMP Else If (y<=128) DEG = 12 Else If (y<=144) DEG = ((144-y)*12+(y-128)*TMP)/(144-128) Else DEG = TMP Basically I propose adding a stable zone with 12 Celsius and another gradient above it, while keeping the current model in seismically active areas.
