      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Proper harvesting tools

Making a scythe doesn't add a lot of grind though. But I agree that it would be weird to use a scythe to get potatoes
  2. I understand now. That's why I mentioned the version I last played, because I thought later versions might've changed the behaviour which it did apparently.
  3. The way I made this was by generating the rhyolite block straight into the smooth stone block above the hopper. This instantly drops the cobblestone. You can even AFK in the smooth block to harvest the cobble automatically (aslong as the olives last ofc). This worked for aslong as I played into b79. As far as I know, you can't autoproduce smooth stone in b79. You also don't need red or blue steel for making cobble. Just a lava and a water source nearby will suffice. I tried your (attempt at I assume raw rhyolite) generator design, crystalcrag. Only vanilla stone formed, no raw rhyolite. I used b79.17. That design (or atleast the idea) used to work and was widely used in b78 though.
  4. You can actually configure it in a way that you don't even need the piston for generating rhyolite.
  5. [Can't Fix] Server Exception ticking world

    Save our TFC world
  6. Realistic Survival House Build

You got yourself a nice floor pattern going there
  7. Highland Farm

Well done, both outside and inside!
  8. Melting Tool Heads

Well, you can powerlevel armor smithing in the current b79 version. But it only works on the unfinished pieces ofcourse, which tool heads are not.
  9. Powder kegs not quite what they were...

You could keep the current blast radius but lower the amount of gunpowder needed to 32. People still have to go through getting all 3 materials for it, the placement of the keg and safe retrieval of dropped items. Right now, it's more worth it to use your gunpowder on fireworks than on barrels ^^
  10. [Offline][0.79.13] New Whitelisted Server

Last time OP hosted a server, the server got shut down without any notice, nor was anything heard of him afterward. (for reference:http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/5890-medieval-tfc-no-whitelist-grief-prevention247/)
  11. Support Beams Quick Look [build 79]

Good video! Especially liked the 2nd part. I will use the showcased idea for making tunnels from now on.
  12. [Solved] Inventory duping bug

This bug has been around in b78 too. Pretty game-breaking bug, especially on PvP servers. It might have something to do with the plugins that are ran on your server (towny, prism, cauldron, ...?). But I'm not really knowledgeable on how server plugins affect TFC.
  13. Forging.

When I start smithing a tool I've never smithed before on a new world, I usually use trial and error to get it right. Because I've smithed a lot, I guesstimate where the arrow needs to be placed and then go from there. It is vital that you know what the smithing actions do, preferrably exactly but if you know the order of magnitude each action does, you'll always get there through trial and error. After you got an item right, remember or note down the actions you have done to get there. If it was messy, try to make another tool and optimize the actions taken. People unexperienced in smithing don't always realize what all the smithing actions do and what their last 3 required actions have to be. Another tip is that when you really messed up, you can remelt the worked ingot in your forge/crucible and start over.
  14. Agriculture on different soils

As far as I know, grass growth is the same as in vanilla, meaning it can spread to the adjacent 8 dirt blocks, same level, one block above and one block under the grass block. The spreading speed feels to be slower than in vanilla. Silk touch is evidently not possible.
  15. [0.79.9] Anti-ghost-fruit-tree, not a problem more.

    Thanks for sharing this trick!
  16. Fireworks

You can make fireworks (atleast in b78 not sure if they changed it with b79). Some firework effects and colors do not work though.
  17. Wiki Edits/Suggestions

Could it be possible to adjust the "Quern" page of the wiki. Currently it only shows the raw andesite block in the crafting grid leading many new people to believe that the quern can only be made with andesite. This is something I had occur multiple times on multiplayer. I know that right under the crafting grid it states raw stone though. Maybe it needs to be clarified a bit better? Just a quality of life change though, no hurry .
  18. Terrafirmacraft lets play

If you want people to watch your live streams or records, I'd suggest you put atleast a link to them.
  19. Brass/Bronze

You mixed up sphalerite (Zinc) with cassiterite (Tin). Copper with sphalerite gives brass, copper with cassiterite gives bronze. See:http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Bronze andhttp://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Brass
  20. Another hypothesis might be that when turning the blooms into ingots, you might have worked an ingot when you finished it, even though the game did not register it as "This item is being worked".
  21. This server has long been closed.
  22. Help With Alloys

The alloy calculator site also works fine for me (using Google Chrome).
  23. Smithing skill

Okay, thanks for your answers all. Much appreciated.
  24. Smithing skill

I had some questions about smithing skill and how/when it affects items, especially tools. It is said that smithing skill increases the durability of tools. It is however not stated that you only start to get durability increase for tools at certain points. I have a tool smithing skill of 400 and currently the only tools that get a durability increase (to my knowledge) are chisels, hammers and shovels. I also gain durability increase on knives. My 400 skill translates into 83.9% on the anvil. I still don't get durability increase (afaik) on axes, saws, (prospecter's) picks and scythes. I assume that those should start getting durability increase somewhere between 83.9% and 100%. The thing is, I made 100 bronze tools to go from 80.6 to 83.6%. Clearly, the percentage increase you get per smithed tool is not linear. Now imagine if 100% is needed for durability increase on pickaxes (the main reason I'm leveling my tool smithing), that would be a TON more tools that you need to make. Does anyone have similar experiences like me? On what tools do you get durability increase and at what smithing skill? What does general smithing skill actually do? Does it somehow influence your other smithing skill lvls? Because somehow I have 70+% weapon smithing skill (tested with javelin), even though I have like 2 weapon smithing skill. I also have a red steel knife with 20k+ durability which apparently goes of the weapon smithing %. If you know an answer to my questions, please do reply. If you have some other question related to what smithing skill actually does, please ask. P.S.: In case this is relevant, I have 645 general smithing skill.
