      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Hy, i'm new here, but I've seen that lots of people want to change sluice for example making them working with tipe of gravel instead of near ore veins or making them not overwork the chunks... I think you should change the name of the already existing sluice in something like prospecting sluice and make a new device similar to the ex nihilo sieve (for who know the mod) making it: -not overworking areas -drops going with rock tipe instead of chunk scan -drop even non-metals ores like kaolinite and coal -drop less than the pro-sluice (because it not overwork) -drop a bit more gems than the sluice -use for terraforming blocks (dirt/gravel/sand instead of gravel/sand) -make dirt can drop with a 1/10000 chance a seed, depending of the rock tipe (for preserving seed hunting adventures), little ores at a rate less than gravel or sand, and rocks, and make sand maybe drop sticks -make it more expensive than a gold pan or a sluice, maybe making the crafting need an iron grill ,some bronze and iron (or though steels) and maybe a burlap cloth (an useful use for them, yeeee!!!!) -Make it use gravel blocks instead of soil units, it will be better -make it able to produce silt as a secondary output that can be processed like the sand in mortar (but it yeld less mortar than a sand like 2 or 4 for every block and stacks up to 64 items for stack because it can be produced too much), and maybe for dirt to produce mud, that can be used instead for crafting bricks -An underplaced inventory can collect the drops -maybe is a cool rotary sieve instead of the static boring sluice =D (for the energy make it needs a flowing water block near, like the sluice) -make ore drops can be disabled by configs for "skeptics" people that think is too op for a survival So if you want to add it i will be very very happy, if you don't... I will survive without it... Ps: sorry for the horrible grammatic, but i don't speak english "by default", i'm an italian guy that try to help you with a suggest and a smile =) Pps: i've writen this in tfc2 suggestions because i can't write it to tfc1 suggestions...
  2. Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes TFC Version #: 0.78.17Forge Version #: Forge Mod Loader: 6.4.49.965 (Or Minecraft Forge: 9.11.1.965) (The only version I was able to get on the ATL launcher?)SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SingleplayerDescription: Alright, sorry to bother you, but I've been noticing a few things missing or maybe I'm just not doing them right. 1)I am unable to create the large pottery vessel from clay at all. 2) There is no "familiar" heart thing on my cows. They also continously run despite me having fed/milked the female for more than a week and I seemed to breed them the very first time I fed them. when I try to feed the female in the morning I get a "pregnant" chat message. (The only other livestock I have are dogs and I was able to tame them in the normal vanilla minecraft way instead of the way described in the wikis.) 3) I am unable to create any alcohol besides rum and it only take 1 piece of sugar. 4) When filling a bucket with sea water it will not fill with shift-rightclick like I was able to do with the freshwater bucket. If the bucket is empty it simply fills it with fresh water and if the bucket already has a bit of salt water in it then it doesn't fill at all. I manually put it in the bucket via the interface and it seemed to work fine. 5) I am unable to create brine. I have a partially filled barrel of seawater and a bucket of vinegar. I put the bucket of vinegar in the interface and it just sat there. I removed the bucket and nothing happened. I tried both the in and out button. I tried sealing the barrel. 6) I am also unable to create a sluice. I have the correct recipe and nothing shows up at all.Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No):No, I haven't been crashing, I'm pretty sure it's somethign small and silly I forgot.Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No):If yes, which mods? The modslist says: ExtraFirma, MapWriter, and RusticamMelius. Again, just what was reccomended on ATL.If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No):Don't think I have them installed.
  3. Has anyone had any success using a gold pan as directed by the wiki? When it comes to underground prospecting, I have gotten the hang of the sluice and of course the prosp. pick but I would really like the gold pan as a third prospecting tool. If an underground (long range) sluice yields Ores A, B, and C, and (short range) gold panning at the same point only yields Ores A and C, I would like to infer - after a sufficient sample size - that I am more likely to find Ore B in the area outside the gold pan's range but inside the sluice's range. I'm not expecting a clear process of elimination (and how could you with the inherent "fuzzy" nature of sluices and gold pans), just an increased likelihood that my inference is accurate. I would prefer if prospecting were a skill that the player could strategically develop with experience and patient prospecting as opposed to mindlessly grinding through endless branch mines in various rock layers in the mid-game. When I didn't have much luck in survival multiplayer, I started a creative world to test and learn more about how to gold pan. I set up shop underground immediately above a very large copper vein that I uncovered for my test. On the surface of the vein, I built a 1x2 channel with gravel at the bottom an a water source block on one end. I then switched to survival mode and repeatedly gathered the gravel from under the source block and sifted it for ores in the flowing water at my feet. 32 units of gravel later (which make up several gold pan units each), I was empty handed. For the sake of comparison, I then created a sluice in the same space and it yielded lots of ores and gems over the course of 32 units of gravel. Despite my search, I haven't found anyone on this forum claiming any success with the gold pan aside from using it to fill the sluice. According to the change log, gold pans should be working so I must be doing something wrong. Could anyone kindly point out how I can use the gold pan as the "sluice light" that it's described to be in the change log?
  4. This post contains some observations about sluices that you might want to discover on your own before clicking the "spolier" button below. I used to assume that the sluice scanned a 100x100x60 area (approximately). This certainly seemed to be the case for my first proper mine and the small ores my underground sluice found I later uncovered in my survey of the area. In my second mine, I was excited when my underground sluice alerted me to the presence of magnetite and I went to work in the 100x100x60 area. Countless pickaxes and prospector’s picks later I had surveyed this massive area and found nothing. I could have set up another sluice in the stream of my tears but I hacked the lying little vermin to pieces with my axe instead. There was a lesson here and after cooling off and a few deep breathes I continued and excavated a larger area. I eventually found the Magnetite. You wouldn’t believe how far away from the sluice it was. When the wiki says that the sluice scans an area roughly 100m around itself, it’s not kidding. 100m is not the diameter (as is the case with the prospector’s pick 25m diameter) it’s the radius. As disheartening as it was to realize that you could very well mine a 100x100x60 area – that’s a lot of blocks – and find absolutely nothing, I was even more discouraged when I wrapped my head around the staggering range of the sluice. Was this area a cube? Was it a half-sphere? What it constant or did some unknown factors increase/decrease the range? Assuming the worst – a 200x200x60 cube – I grabbed my calculator and chuckled when I found that I would need a minimum of 192 pro pick “cubes” to cover the volume of the sluice “cube”. Prospecting with a prospector’s pick and sluice was like cabinetmaking with a chisel and chainsaw. Terrafirmacraft is all about prospecting and it is hard. At some point your grunting stone age adventurer is going to look down at the ground and wonder how he or she can get those precious ores that are so crucial to advancing in the game. This is the wonderful puzzle that the developers present us with in TFC and they don’t make it easy. If I wanted a game of luck or mindless grinding with a pickaxe, I would look elsewhere. I would prefer a game of skill and TFC is so engaging that I am willing to develop my prospecting skill for the hard-earned rewards. Ok time to get serious. I have 4 prospecting tools in the game – 3 when you consider that gold pans aren’t working as intended: (1) my knowledge of which ores I will find in the rock layers I inspect; (2) my 25x25x25 prospector’s pick; and (3) my sluice. Using all three tools, I start by finding where two different rock types meet and digging down three layers. Caption: Basalt on one side of the line and Marble on the other. On one side I find Basalt, Rhyolite and Quartzite. On the other side I find Marble, Rhyolite and Conglomerate. Next I dig down to just above the third layer and build my sluice right on the line between the Conglomerate and Quartzite. Caption: You can see the intersection of the three rock types. I need to dig a few blocks higher to be above all the conglomerate and quartzite stone. I will later face the other direction such that quartzite will be on my left and conglomerate will be on my right as I build sluices. In this position, I can rely on the fact that: Bismuthinite (Bismuth), Limonite (Iron), Magnetite (Iron and Platinum) will only be on the Conglomerate side of the Sluice;Sphalerite (Zinc) will only be on the Quartzite side of the Sluice; andCassiterite (Tin), Hematite (Iron), Copper, and Gold will only be within the thin sliver of Rhyolite that sits upon the other two rock layers. I fire up the sluice and cross my fingers for Limonite or Magnetite. 42 blocks of gravel later, I find 3 Cassiterite and 2 Copper from the Rhyolite layer, 1 Sphalerite from the Quartzite side, and 1 Tetrahedrite that could have come from anywhere. I then leveraged the fact that I didn’t find any ores that are unique to the conglomerate area by building a second sluice a further 98 blocks over into the conglomerate side. The inference is weaker but if the second sluice finds any conglomerate-specific ores, they are less likely to be in the area between the two sluices than they are to be in the area unique to the second sluice. Let’s throw that logic out the window and fast-forward to when I later built another 2 sluices for a total of 4 sluices in each corner of a 98x98 square and uncovered two large magnetite veins in the process. They were along the segment between one sluice and the next. Forget logic, the magnetite is right there in the square and these sluices better find it. Both veins of magnetite were near the back right corner of the square that lied on a horizontal y=65 plane. 22 blocks of gravel later the back left sluice finally detects the magnetite (a distance of 60 blocks) while the back right sluice remained silent and defiant despite the magnetite being a mere 6 blocks away. I pumped 66 blocks of gravel into the back right sluice before giving up. I felt like pointing to the ore and telling the sluice “Bad dog!” If it can’t detect the magnetite that’s right under its nose, I have little hope for using it as a tool for locating ores. Caption: You can see the Magnetite embedded in the second layer of Shale rock in the background and the oblivious sluice in the foreground. I don’t know what to make of this puzzle. How do you recommend that I use these tools? Should I pump gravel into a complex and unreliable system of sluices? Should my pro pick and I embark on a tortuous game of marco polo in the sluice’s general area? For now, I’m just relying on my observation that higher tier ore genesis in TFC seems to occur right between the second and third layer of rock, hidden in large veins of various minerals. Harvesting everything around y=60 seems cheap to me. Finding my first vein was exciting but now I’m just grinding through blocks and blocks of rock. It’s no longer a puzzle that demands prospecting skill. It’s no longer exciting. I can’t see what the next steps would be for me to improve my prospecting skill. Could someone kindly give me a nudge or point me in the right direction?
  5. Bug With Sluices

Ok so whenever I get sphalerite from a sluice and take it out first it doesn't let me shift click. Now the real bug is hard to explain so I shall say it how I came across the bug. So I was taking some sphalerite out of my sluice I had gotten 3 sphalerite. I realized when I tried to stack them the number disappeard so it acted like I only had one sphalerite. But then i right clicked and it duplicate the one sphalerite making as many as I wanted. Then I got my 3 back and kept the others. Later when i stacked my original 3 with the fake ones all of them except 1 disappeard. So I lost 2 and can no longer duplicated them which is VERY annoying that I lost some of my sphalerite.
  6. Hello Forum, i made this thread because i had this idiea that sliuces couldn't detect ores above tier 0... so i made a test to see if that was true... I created a new world and made a 64 tall pillar since the Sluices detect ores 60m deep, then i made a small vein in the center of the pillar and surround it with raw stone (Gabbro) and made a sluice system (24 Sluices) and see if my theory was true... Found this: Sluices finds copper veins if they're surrounded with raw stone, doesn't count floor or ceiling... My guess is that higher tier ores have a slight less chance to be detected by the sluce... i was going to test with tier 0 ores but they do not appear on NEI so i can't test if the sluices detects other ores more easily... Found two bugs on the sluices: 1. Sluice dirt/sand count is off sometimes, when i check to see if they're empty the arrow is mid way to done but it freezes, and it marks as it is not, so they're empty but they don't seem to be 2. When a sluce is cheking for ores in this case Nat. Copper it gets the small ores but there's a chance that the ore that rest in the sluice UI become a stone knife... this bug can be caused because i did the test 64 blocks away from the floor so the sluices just detect the small vein i putted into a platform i made maybe it detects air as a stone knife vein??? So if this is true we can say that it is posible for the sluice to detect high tier ores if in range, but that might be bugged, also it is posible to have a infinite small ore production if you have some veins totally surrounded with raw stone... Posible exploit? don't know... i would love to test the rest of the ores but i don't see them on the NEI interface Opinions?
  7. Sluices and distance?

Hello Everyone I have a question about the sluices. Me and a friend have been playing TFC for quite some time now, but we have always had a bit of a problem finding the tier 3/4 ores to start make iron. My plan is now to experiment a bit more with sluices and make them underground if possible to drag water down from a lake above. http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Sluice To quote the wiki. I take it that 1 block is equals 1 meter? Then i wonder, "100m around itself", that would be a radius of 100 blocks from the center of the sluice ? thx. Sorry, just realized that i probably posted the thread under the wrong forum.
  8. Cannot craft sluice !

I Have recently updated to TFC B2 47, and i started a new world as the old chests caused instant crashes for this build. Now without stone picks the only way to get ore and advance seems to be the Sluice. But any way and with any planks i have tried i simply cannot craft it ! I have tried the TFC Wiki and followed the recipe there, as well as several how to do videos, but the resulting block is just empty when i put the planks and sticks together ??!! Now as i looked into the matter i noticed an awful lot of conflict over already existing ID's ( hereunder several ores and sedimentary stones O.o ). And a lot of things i did not know what meant ( ItemMM@18927b25 anyone ??) Could something like that be the matter and if, is there a way to solve it ? Thanks in Forward DukeJuke
