      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Seeds

So it says on the wiki that if the in game year is longer than 360 days than crops will not grow correctly. Is this true? thanks
  2. Agriculture

There's been a bit on this topic already so I am gathering the pieces and putting them here. This is strictly about the process of collecting, growing, and harvesting crops. If you have any ideas about cooking or how anything discussed here could be used to that end please post here. This is also not about animal collecting, raising, and butchering animals. Those subjects can be found here and here. The main things I found doing quick searches was two posts of Darmo's which I have combined into one, and one post by me. While bees are mentioned, for a more in-depth discussion on bees go here. Darmo Stuff by me Cliff Notes because not everyone will spend the time to read for 15 minutes. Wild plant spawning decreased by number of plants and animals in the area. Wild seeds only appearing in certain climates Reduced chance to get seeds/can only get seeds from mature plants/can only get seeds from produce. Bad seed that won't grow. Plants that are not harvested in time will die and regrow. Temperature, water, and light effecting the plants. pests and blightsneeding pest/insect/fungicide. Animals messing with your crops both grown animals and birds. Growing different crops together being beneficial. Leaving space between crop fields being beneficial. Crops breeding - various resistances. weeds. fields needing to go fallow without fertilizer. farming equipment - planters, seed silos. needing lattices for berries. needing supports for fruit trees. functional use for scarecrows/ bird deterrent. Having drops tied to farming skill.
  3. [Solved] Irrigation

Hey, it is currently late fall of my first ever TFC game ad I was running some numbers for the spring which will be my first ever planting season. The wiki gave me a lot of useful information and I used it to calculate my crop yields for all my food bearing crops which will be 83.5 pounds. I was wondering if this would be enough for one season? Two, how do I irrigate an inland farm if I don't have the special steel buckets to transport the water source blocks? I read over the wiki and it gave me the impression I only had those wood buckets for transporting water to barrels and the red and blue steel buckets for lava and water specifically. Can I still make vanilla buckets(using the new smithing system), and can I make these buckets out of copper? The wiki only goes over using red and blue steel while ignoring other metals completely.
  4. [Solved] Hemp crash

not a huge deal as im just trying to plant it for refrence on my texture pack and not for a real playthrough, but whenever i try to plant Hemp on my test world, the game instantly crashes. is it just in the creative inventory and not fully implimented yet? The only other mods i have installed are fastcraft and lanterns. i can post a crashlog if i need to.
  5. In this series I only allow myself to eat food from crops, not animals, in an attempt to focus a bit more on the farming aspect of TFC: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4yTWaMZzTGRzrVQkv7GU_wXCByl3KJ1t
  6. Farming in TFC: Observations

So, to share some insights into farming (if this is not something the devs want posted, please feel free to delete this thread.) First, I have observed that when the temperature falls below 0, crops die, usually in winter, but occasionally you can get a early spring/late autumn freeze which kills them. The crop death isn't instant, Second, If no one is on the server near the crops during the freezes, they will not die. Third, crops have wildly different growth times. corn takes what seems like millenia to grow, while onions seem to take a month or two. Fourth, crops seem to not grow when the temperature is too low. But more importantly, they still consume nutrients. So, even if your plants don't freeze in the winter, they will have no nutrients come spring to grow properly. Now, with that information, I was able to put together a very nice farm with 3 tiers, plant in the spring, harvest in the summer and fall, and do reasonably well with my farms. Use that knowledge as something of a guide, if you will. Now the real anomaly to me is how some plants like tomatoes and bell peppers remain after harvesting. this seems doubly pointless to me, first in that by the time plants reach maturity, they have already depleted the soil of nutrients, and second the fact that they will die in the winter anyhow. Perhaps I am missing something? or maybe this is for planned uses of gypsum and other minerals which really are only used in agriculture AFAIK. Just thought I would post some of my various thoughts on the matter of farming. Overall I love the realism and detail put into farming, and look forward to more features such as depleting water levels, and fertilizer options. One thing I do hope for that probably isn't planned at this time is that perhaps some day we will be able to build a greenhouse which keeps plants alive in winter. Well, that's about it. Hope this is helpful to someone out there, and I didn't violate any forum etiquette about not spoiling stuff from the game.
  7. [Offline] Treeserve [Build 76] [MC 1.5.1][Re-Opened]

With the release of TFC Build 76 (kudos to Dunk), I have decided to relaunch my server. If you are interested in playing on a small server that is oriented around farming, mining, and small, rural communities, I would enjoy having you play on the server. The IP is treeserve.dyndns.org:25111. It will be open from 500 PM Eastern Standard Time to around 9 PM - on weekends it will be open all day. Best, platanus (treeman1111)
  8. Agriculture and Planting

I am fairly new to the mod, and I am very much enjoying it, but i dont find the wiki very helpful with some things. I have been trying to get a farm started. I have seperated all A, B, and C type plants. They are all planted, but seem to be growing slow. Is there anything im doing wrong? Are crops affected by season?
  9. Agricultural help

Hey guys, I was reading the agriculture article on the wiki and could not find any information on planting times. If any one knows when you can begin planting crops, the help would be much appreciated.
