      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Where is the Flint?

So, I have started a new world with the most recent update as of posting (I downloaded and installed 2 hours ago), probably b44, but I cannot find a single flint for the life of me. It's just little rocks that do nothing for me. What happened to flint, is it still there and is anyone else having the same problem?

Flint is no longer needed. The recipes have been changed to work with those little rocks you've been finding, and knipping mechanics have been added to the game.

A startup guide for you to learn to work with rock is right here! The recipes for knipping rock are exactly the same as for making plans, except you can't make any weapons other than knives and javelins (2 sticks and a rock).

There is nothing new into Nether on TFC yet, and I think you can't craft flint and steel yet, but I think you can gather obsidian with the high tier steels.

You can mind obsidian with wrought iron+ tools and if you are lucky enough for a zombie to drop an iron ingot, then you can make a flint and steel

Oh, nice, didn't know that wrought iron mine that. ^^

And you still can try to position a nether portal really near some lava. Just make some wooden planks block, adjust near the portal, make a patch to the lava so the blocks burn, and then the fire need to reach the most close wooden block near the obsian portal. There is a chance to the portal to lit. :)

(We learn to maneuver some things when playing those "Survival Island / Survival SkyBlock" kind of map... haha)

I know it took me a while to figure this out, so maybe there are other non-modded folks who don't know this:

Put an axe in the crafting grid with wood to make planks.
