      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Food

7 posts in this topic

So yeah, like the title says the ability to craft food in replacement or addition to the alchemy of the game. Might be neat to make processing raw resources to produce more food or longevity of food better.. Like jerky instead of steak. that really hard bread that lasts forever instead of a loaf of french bread. Butter for the bread? who knows.

I also would like it if say Cooked Steak/Chicken/Pork could actually decay due to age (as a cooked steak doesnt last forever) but perhaps if you have found and mined some Rock Salt; you can chisel away from "Salt" and create Salted Meat whcih would last and not decay (or perhaps as you said, add a drying table that you can place cooked steak in and after 1-2 days it becomes Jerky)

Yup its along those lines.. and I hope that seasons and such come into play so you know, the deer are not in season because they went some where warm (Or maybe you are somewhere warm and deer now are in season :D).. But plants dont grow any more, you have to survive on what you have, etc!

The game "UnReal World" has a really nice system of decay with food and such, wouldn't mind seeing some version of that implemented in this mod, maybe even a "cellar" where you store the food in a colder environment, thus making it last longer.

very much a fan of the idea of being about to eat just to realize that the food is days old, if that's the case, i would like a lunchbox/thermal that i could carry my food in with me for longevity's sake. but definitely like this idea.

Me too. Clay pits can be built in the same shape as a forge, but below the Y-64 level to act as a preservation or fermentation vessel, just like how Kimchi is made.
