      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Loving the mod...but, where is the metal?

4 posts in this topic

I created my starting tools, I created a small residence and created charcoal. I have three double chests full of stuff so I finally decided to go out with some pickaxe and a prospectors pick and searched for 60+ minutes and found not a single trace of anything. I did find an awesome underground river with stalagmites and everything and went in every direciton I could imagine and still found NOTHING.

I know they are going for realism but this is taking the fun out of it when I can't find anything useful anywhere.

I have seen in guides that it says, "look in this biome or in this type of rock" but I don't have a geology degree. I don't know the difference between the types of introverted stone or whatever it's called. But I love the complexity of the crafting and collecting and all the other types of additions this mod adds. Is there at least an option I can set that will let more ore spawn?

also, on older versions my first fires I made by lighting 3 sticks on fire would eventually burn out and now it seems to burn forever. Is this supposed to be like this now?

I am using the newest version btw

The current version is a tad... buggy, which is why your fires aren't burning out. There may also be some issues with ore generation (though I'm not sure if anyone other than Bioxx really knows if the issues with ore generation are an intentional design decision or a bug).

I am having the same issue. I played about 8 hours total on the 46b, scoured mountain surfaces, then searched for surface caves and found only shallow water pools all over under the ground. Then dug a mine shaft stairs down about 40 blocks, then dug a LONG horizontal shaft, and dug side shafts off of that in every direction. Then dug straight down until I hit the giant lava/ cave system that seems to be the only caves in the world at all. Searched that for a long time, found 10 blocks of salt peter.

Then I tried 46c and played for 2 hours, dug a shaft straight down into the massive caves/lava that are near endless, searched that for a long time. Nothing found.

All that time I was using a prospectors pick all over the place.

Zero Ore.

After doing some fairly extensive testing, it would appear that the ore is almost entirely found starting around y=90 (about 55 blocks below sea level). Unless you mean iron... in which case... good luck.
