      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Charcoal pit fueling

8 posts in this topic

According to the wiki page for the fire pit, a charcoal pit takes 18 hours to burn. I just made a charcoal pit and it finished after 24 hours. This leads me to wonder: does fueling the fire pit have any effect on charcoal production? My fire pit was completely unfueled in this test. Anyone know?

No, I stood beside the charcoal pit the whole time. I know that beds advance the timestamp but not simulations.

huh, would definitely be interested in seeing your test results on this, i always assumed 4 logs was the best way to go, i've never checked how long it burns though.

I never put logs in my firepit for charcoal production and it works fine for me.

yep, that's what OP indicates as well, would be interesting to see if there's any difference at all though.

I got pretty good results out of it. I had 164 log piles full and got 18.5 stacks of charcoal. I used to do the full firepit back on the old charcoal pit shape and would get about 3 to 3.5 stacks of charcoal. Both seem right around 45-50% return. I have to do another large pit tonight, I will try to remember to fill the firepit and see if things have changed.

does anybody else have fire-hazard issues with a covered charcoal pit now that he changed the wood-search parameters?
