      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ore Smelting

3 posts in this topic

The problem is solved, the problem I had is in the spoiler.

It seems like I am facing a dilema.

I just started playing TFC yesterday and I learned the basics of how to get started.

I am currently at the phase of smelting my first ore into bars, and here is the problem.

From what I heard from the youtube videos I saw, you need 16 pieces of starting ore to make a bar, so I went and started breaking rocks around and hoped to get ores.

In the end I got 16 bismithinite and 16 cassiterite but when I started smelting them into the fire pit they dissapear once they get "Very Hot"

This is the problem I am facing, I am using Ash wood to heat up the fire and I think that may be the problem, Ash doesn't heat up the fire to too high temperatures.

What wood should I use to get to smelting this ore?

EDIT: I am thinking of getting charcoal and trying to fuel the fire with it, don't know if it works, I will edit the post if this is the answer to my problem. (it didn't work)

When ores get hot enough, they turn into liquid so you need something to catch it with. You need to find clay, put them into the crafting bench in the shape of a boat which makes clay molds, then put the clay mold in the fire pit and heat it up until it turns into a ceramic mold. Put the ceramic mold in the space under where you are smelting the ores to catch the liquid, then fill it up with 15-16 small pieces of ore.

Good luck.
