      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Barren caves

8 posts in this topic

After a while of exploring, I couldnt see any ores whatsoever. I loaded up a creative world and went digging around. After exploring a large cavern, I only found one medium sized vein. I'm pretty sure that caves arn't supposed to be this barren and lacking resources.

I don't think there is a problem at all. Ore is kind of scarce, besides cassiterite, bismuthine and sphalerite, which may or may not be found so easily ( I never really got to making a prospector's pick in the later versions )

This is what I really love of this mod. Ores are rarer than vanilla ones, but not too much. That makes you exploring the awesome generated underground world. And you can see awesome cave systems. All this happens only if the ores are rare. So keep searching and have fun!!!

A small tip: Record the exact cords of every rock you find that drops small ore. Then, find the median and use the propick from there. The more data you collect, the better your chances of finding something. Also, checking caves sometimes finds exposed deposits, though you should never rely on that.

I cant say its perfect, but it raises your chances by a little.

If all else fails you can live in a log house and farm alot, trade crops and food for metals, or be a logger in a mountain and trade tons and tons of charcoal for metals But only if your on SMP or lan, if you are in single player well, you are SOL'ed.

...be a logger in a mountain and trade tons and tons of charcoal for metals...

I actually did this one playthrough where I slashed through a decent sized jungle, this method is great and it quickly showed how easily charcoal doubles as currency.

When your desperate for metal and you have no other options bartering is an technique that's been used since ancient times.... Bartering is amazing, That or befreinding someone and stealing their resources.
