      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Natural Stone:

Even though the actual new block is called Raw Stone, but using the name of an already used block for the title wouldn't help much.

Imagine. You are making your home's floor with raw stone, when suddenly; you decide to incorporate a floor pattern. Well, you just wasted all that stone that took up to six times longer to mine than other blocks. Why isn’t Steve/tte able to repick-up that one cubic meter1 block of stone, which s/he was originally capable of lifting, without mining all the neighboring blocks? Did it magically merge with them into one solid mass?
  • Old Raw Stone renamed to Natural Stone.
  • Natural Stone retains all the same properties as old Raw Stone, i.e. block physics, stone anvil, texture and other stuffs.
  • Natural Stone still needs to have all neighboring blocks removed for the block to drop, but drops as a new Raw Stone.
  • Natural Stone blocks are unobtainable, except through /give, creative, TMI or NEI.
  • New block: Raw Stone
  • New Raw Stone has most of the same properties as old Raw Stone, i.e. block physics, stone anvil, texture and other stuffs, except the mining requirement.
  • When a new Raw Stone is mined, it drops itself instead of cobblestone.

Sliding Cobblestone As Well

I was working on a suggestion for implementing sliding sand and gravel (like in this mod), and cobble (because cave-ins making cobble towers is super believable2), when I get ninja'd and it appears in the latest build. Though, cobblestone probably shouldn't get sliding physics until the construction update or when mortar is added. Apparently, people love building walls out of this mining waste product.

Stone Support Chisel Mode

Another chisel mode... to make stone supports.

Related to cave-ins forming cobble: what if they also had a chance to form gravel instead of cobble? Could this lead to players creating rudimentary gravel generators for use with sluices?

also, tiles would be nice

i have no problem with chiseling them, but lost if mined? i dont like that part,

most of the time, stone was processed at the pit directly (the size, fitting done on the site), so why dont add the ability to mine slabs

also, wouldnt it be nice, if you could create slabs, and raw stone with a saw ?, since chiseling , would be a waste of stone, if you know you want 2 halfsizes

in addition , it would be great, if it was possible to connect chisseld blocks,

for example you want to create a pillar, so you place a block and chisel it down to lets say 4 chiselings down, then you place another block on top and create the pillar itself, BUT

the pillar and the podest dont connect, (since the stone has been substracted,

i see 3 solutions, a more detailed way to chisel stone, a way to create nice pillars with a special block or crafting grids,

stone supports that work without horizontal beams

I'm not sure if stacking blocks on top of chiseled blocks is really possible, but TFC does a lot of things I've had other mod authors tell me wasn't possible, so I don't really know.

Another chisel mode... to make stone supports.

I could see this being viable as long as the supports are crafted from one of the igneous rocks.

If this happens i can finally build the gigantic fortress i built in Dwarf Fortress. But hey i like this idea anyway. What about stone pillars that are supports?

I think most of our chiseling woes will be fixed with the possible addition of a new chisel mode that removes little cubits rather than a whole face of the block. there is a thread called more chisel functions a few pages back where this was talked about.

yeeeeeeeeee!

-spams like button-

this definitely would be alot more convinient

but just to play devil's advocate here, why would smashing apart a peice of stone with a pickaxe give you perfectly smooth, unmarked stone in return?

Just imagine you're levering the block of stone out with one side of the pick.

Well you'd obviously need something metal for that

but then wouldn't a crowbar make more sense?

I'd think the curve of the pick head and it's thickness would make prying difficult
