      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Suggestion: Merge T1 and T2 metal working

6 posts in this topic

With the recent changes in Metallurgy we don't need a copper anvil anymore to make bronze tools. It is quite easy to make bronze first before even having molten one copper ingot. (At least i have more problems finding copper than cassiterite) Though if i want to proceed to the bloomery, i do have to make a copper anvil first, then a bronze anvil to make 8 bronze sheets for the bloomery. Which doesen't make much sense, to have an anvil more just to make some sheets.

So my suggestion would be to either make it possible to work T2 metals on a copper anvil or to make bronze weldable but not workable on a T0 anvil. Either way would remove the need to make two anvil solely to make T2 sheets.

This would make things simpler, that's not what TFC is about :P

Oh i wouldn't completly exclude that. The melting of copper and bronze got a LOT LOT LOT easier... i can now melt up to 64 ingots with 16 logs (4 filled bowls), get them in 4 handy containers, where it stays warm forever and can pour it whenever i need it. Just saying. It just doesent make sense the way the system is now. i can cast bronze tools from the beginning but i can't weld 2 ingots together before making a copper anvil?

Once Dunk fixes the mechanic, you'll be able to melt your copper anvil back down in a crucible to recycle that metal once you've upgraded to a bronze anvil.

Regarding OP's suggestion: I personally think that this would further reduce and simplify [in the bad, BAAAAD sense of the word] the early game, that IMHO is one of the most pleasant and fun parts of TFC - up to iron, making a new anvil for tools and such is still "COOL!".

In the event this idea gets implemented, and bronze is the new T1, I would like to see the complexity going somewhere else, not simply "lost".

Once Dunk fixes the mechanic, you'll be able to melt your copper anvil back down in a crucible to recycle that metal once you've upgraded to a bronze anvil.

These are good news, since maybe we'll be allowed to recycle other things, as tools, even with a loss [15%, maybe?].
