      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Stoning your blade

I find it quite unrealistic to be able to pour molten metal into a mould with rather flat looking edges, and easily dismember mobs with them, Therefore I think that anvil worked tools should be sharper

That is a great idea. They should also have more durability. Such a good idea that it already works that way. The specific smithing skill and the general smithing skill level give you a percentage bonus on all things you smith. So higher durability and stats.

Good to see I made a better suggestion for once :)

I was also thinking that you could also put cast blades into an anvil to sharpen them, but that would be kinda pointless. Maybe just use it for sharpening ready usable tools instead?

You do realize that you suggested something that was already implemented in the game, right? So technically it's not really much better of a suggestion.

As much as I like anything that adds realism to the mod, I cannot understand how in the hack would sharpening a tool have a risk of breaking it? I think sharpening a tool should add speed in the case of picks and shovels, ( yes a shovel can be sharpen and made easy to work with dirt ) and add damage value in the case of a sword. Nothing to do with the durability or chance of breaking.

Sharpening a blade actually does lower it's durability in the long term (think about it, you're shaving off material. The more you shave off the less knife you have left over). But you're on the mark in saying speed/efficiency is more relevant here than durability.
