      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] 77.11 Wooden buckets can't place water?

6 posts in this topic

Hi, I've been playing TFC for awhile, and I'm loving the new update.  But I recently made a wooden bucket with the intentions of making a big farm.  But when I went to place the water I'd gathered into my farm's water spot, nothing happened.  There was no water in my bucket, but there was no water in the hole either.  I tried a few other places too, the water just disappears.  Never did that before.  Did something change with the buckets in 77 or is this a bug?

Yes, placing finite water with a wooden bucket was removed.

Sorry to necro, but how are we supposed to water crops without the ability to place even a 1x1x1 water spot? I need a way to keep my crops watered but my only way to get fresh water is to either walk really far from home or through rainwater, and I'd rather not place my farm too far from home.

It is one more of the aspects of tfc that makes the game believable. Early human settlements always looked to be close to water. The best solution is to make your home close to water where you will have your farms.

One way or another you will need lots of water, to make Limewater, Alcohol, Vinegar, Mortar etc. Not a good idea to be far away.

I actually do not like the red bucket solution, do not think is believable, I would prefer a pump and pipes system as long as it was very hard and time consuming to make it, so people would not overuse.

If you don't want to be tied to natural water during the early game, just settle in a mild climate somewhere around 6-8k latitude.  You'll be outside the tropics, but it'll never get cold enough for your crops to freeze, and they'll never die.  Then it doesn't matter if they're close to water or not, really.  They'll just grow slower.
