Wooden Slabs

Are there any plans to change it so wooden slabs stay the same color of the wood you use? I really like to use the slabs for my roof and the coloring just doesn't look right with the basic wood slab.

Yes there are, but since these would take up -so- many block Ids this change is awaiting the extended range to be provided in the engine (which is rumored to finally be useable in 1.3.0).

yeah i saw a snapshot on youtube where the slabs are finally able to be different colors. this is a minecraft update, nothing to do with TFC

I don't really know a lot about modding and all that but couldn't you use the damage value thing? It could use only 1 Block ID

I see a complication: what if you mix different wood colours for the slabs or stairs?

As I see, we could check how much of each colour is for each colour, and generate the right amounts of colored slabs/stairs for each quantities of colour used. You place two dark wood blocks and one white coloured wood block, you get two dark wood slabs and one white wood slab.

Is that even possible?

I believe the recipe calls for only 1 type of wood to be used. Could be wrong though.

Having appropriately colored doors, & fences would be nice, too. Colored sticks might be pushing it a little bit, because that would require a LOT of tool sprites. I can't believe colored slabs/stairs haven't been implemented in vanilla yet, you'd think they would provide a little more fanservice than that.
