Creating Food Prep area

I have been trying to create a food prep table and so far I have been unable to do it. I tried searching the wiki, and I get making meals with food prep area, but not how to create a food prep table. I have tried both natural stone and cobblestone and right clicking a stone knife onto it, also shift +rt clicking a knife on it, but unable to create a table. How do I make one?

Do you have bowls in your inventory?

Ah, thanks. I still can't find that particular line on the wiki page, but that was the answer. I guess I was expecting the knife to be left on the surface for the food prep surface when I made it and then for the  gui to open when I made bowls to make the meals.

 

Maybe a specific paragraph on that page for idiot people like me describing how to make the food prep surface specifically? . I have been trying to figure that out for days and kept somehow missing the bowls needing to be in the inventory.

 

Also a dumb question, but can smooth stone that has been chiseled work as a food prep surface?

 

I really appreciate the quick response and answer. I have been researching my questions here and on the wikki since I started playing TFC and have found my answers so far, but this one really eluded me. I really love the mod and this site and wiki.

 

Edit: Ugg, I finally found that line. I looked over it 100 times and kept missing it.

It's the last sentence of the very first paragraph in the meals section.

 

Meals are a way for players to mix and match foods to create a dish which is able to give the player saturation. The quality of the meal is shown in the tool-tip labeled as Taste, ranging from Terrible to Fantastic. The tastier the meal, the more saturation it will give. In order to create a meal prep surface, the player must right click with a knife on the top of a solid wood, stone, or metal material block with a bowl in their inventory.

 

Smooth stone that has been chiseled can be used to make a food prep surface, but only if it was chiseled using slab mode, and the top face is still completely solid (so like a shelf). If the block was chiseled using detail mode, it won't work.
