      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Windmills and Waterwheels

7 posts in this topic

I hope this has not been suggested before. As I have checked the suggestion directory before posting and could not find anything mentioned before. Please let me know as soon as you can if it has and direct me to the thread so I may give my input there so I do not make the same mistake twice.

I was on HappyDiggers TFC server last night grinding up our harvested oats for bread. I wished for a faster way to grind grain. I recall the Better Than Wolves mod to have a very sexy windmill system to automatically power a grindstone. I was interested in maybe something of the like. It would be quite useful in agriculture and any type of mechanical system that may be added in the future.

Either a Water wheel, Windmill, or a livestock powered shaft would be very nice. It would also provide more woodworking with the saw and maybe inspire some new woodworking tools as you would have to create specialized pieces like cage gears and axles.

It would also be nice to have an automated bellows for the blast furnace...

In the suggestions directory, under tools, http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/5090-

It's my idea on mechanical power, which involves windmills, waterwheels, gears, axles, mechanical bellows and grain mills, and more

But it's kinda old so... meh *shrugs*

That would be quite helpful with grinding grains

Were you thinking about Better Than Wolves like I was? I like your ideas better. The turnout of each power source and their pros and cons is something to think about instead of making them all the same power output. That way players won't just go for the cheapest of them 100% of the time.

Yes, I indeed was.

Well, output isn't the only thing in considering the pros and cons of power sources, but I was thinking of different power outputs.

The problem we faced was the ridiculous complication in choosing the how 'strong' a power is, and how much it should travel depending on how strong it is, and so on.

Speaking of which... I got an idea for how we might do power..... but should I post it on your thread, or mine?

Mechanical power and automatization has been suggested many times since TFC started. We have talked about this dozens of times.

You should post it on yours since yours is more detailed on the subject.
