      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I like the stick block idea. Moderately resistant to Big Bad Wolf (new mob). Not as good as brick, but better than thatch.

The lilly pad idea is a new one, but not all that useful when you can just fill the water in with a log bridge or just use a boat. As for the stick blocks, using them like thatch is a fairly common thought, if anything for a suggestion I'd say make a "stick pane" block, as we already have plenty of aesthetic solid blocks, but fewer non-full block options. To expand, perhaps allowing it to be like the fence and still allow arrow shots through certain permiable parts of the block.

i am aware i can just fill the water in as i go however i try not to destroy the environment as i go in fact i like to make as small an imprint on the environment as possible. like i said i dont frequent them enough for anything permanant a log bridge is frankly an eyesaw and most rivers are to narrow to warrent a boat

If our torches start burning out in build 79, won't we need sticks more? [stops throwing sticks away after harvesting saplings]

Not really, because you can just keep 1 torch in your inventory that never burns out (they only burn out while placed) and use that to run around and light all of your existing burned out torches. The only reason you would need more sticks is if you want to break all of your burned out torches and replace them with lit ones, instead of just relighting the extinguished ones.

i just get the feeling that the torch thing will either be absolutely amazing or  menace. i'm looking forward to seeing it in action.

Which is exactly why there was a config option to turn it off added before the feature was even released. That's my policy for adding any config option in regards to such highly controversial new features.

Torches going out was one of Notch's original ideas before it got shelved :D

[*]Notch announced that torches would become temporary light sources that would eventually go out.%5B2%5D They would need to be relit with flint and steel. The permanent torch would be replaced with lanterns, and all torches that exist already in saved games whether placed, stored or in inventory would become lanterns. This was supposed to take effect on October, 31st 2010 with the Halloween Update, but it does not appear this will be the case anymore.%5B3%5D This was, however, one thing that was added in the April Fools' jokeMinecraft 2.0.

I would not use this feature unless there was a more expensive permanent light source solution as stated above with the lantern.
