      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Health/Injurie Overhaul

3 posts in this topic

This idea is to make health a more realistic, and dangerous element to TFC while also being interesting. Here it is.

So the general idea is that health would be a bar split into five segments: blood, leg, arm, chest and head.
These five segments would go down depending on what part of you gets hit by a attack, and also depends on what type the attack is.

Blood: This bar will go down no matter where a attack hits, and If this bar hits 0, you will die! When you get hit, the damage dealt determines how long the wound will take to stop bleeding, and how fast it bleeds out. Piercing damage will drain the most blood, then slashing, then crushing. To reduce blood loss you can use a bandage. The lower this bar gets, the more nauseous you will get causing the screen to wobble.

Head: This bar will be protected by the head piece, and If it hits 0, you will die! If it gets hit, your vision will also be affected. Piercing and Crushing works well against it.

Chest: This bar is protected by the chest piece, if it hits 0, you will die! If this gets hit, no extra affects will happen. This will act as the main attack nulifier. Piercing works well against it.

Leg: This bar is protected by the leg and foot piece. The more it gets hit, the slower you will walk. If it hits 0, you will not die but bleeding caused by it could kill you. Crushing and Slashing work well against it.

Arm: This bar is protected by the chest piece. The more it gets hit, the slower you will preform digging, chopping, etc. You will not die if it hits 0 but the bleeding caused by it could kill you. Crushing and Slashing work well against it.

General: General damage like that from explosions and hunger will drain all bars in percentages. Having a good diet will just increase the capacity of all bars. In order of size, blood will have the biggest bar, then chest, then leg, then arm, then head.

In case you didn't know, armor protection already works on a body-part system very similar to this.

Your suggestion really only makes sense to be implemented after a body part targeting system exists

Currently body parts are damaged on a random basis, so a system with body part penalties will only penalize people who happen to be unluckily hit the same body part too many times.

If the mod had body part hitboxes, it would add tactical value to hitting body parts (much like Deus Ex 1), but without those it would just punish people randomly for getting hit in the same body part multiple times
