As the title states, I am looking to how to set up a server. I got the right forge as well as the files for terrafirma, but I don't know what other mods or apis I would need to get it to run.

1. download the latest version of minecraft_server.jar https://s3.amazonaws...aft_server.jar?
2. open it with 7zip or winrar or something like that
3. put the forge files in the minecraft_server.jar http://www.mediafire...vncnih5ori89rk5
4. add guava to the mods folder ( if there is no mods folder, create it :) ) http://www.terrafirm...uava-11.0.1.jar
5. add tfc core to the minecraft_server.jar http://adf.ly/82kCT
6. add tfc game to the mods folder http://adf.ly/82kKK
7. have fun :D

Uhm, how heavy on the CPU is being a TFC server?

Probably about as much as tekkit or vanilla. There isn't a lot of entities so I don't see how it should be too bad.

Thanks for the guide :)

I'm still having problems though (I've not installed a mod to my server before):
First - the mods folder, do you mean the .minecraft/mods folder or a new one created wherever minecraft_server.jar is (My Docs/Minecraft for me)?
Second - I follow the steps above with a fresh server jar, putting the guava and TFC_server_core files in a mods folder created within My Docs/Minecraft, but get the message "Error: Invalid or corrupt jarfile Minecraft_Server.jar"

Any ideas where I might be going wrong?

Thanks very much :)

It's ok I got the answers by joining the TFC channel on IRC :)

For reference:
1 - the mods folder has to be in the same folder as minecraft_server.jar
2 - I had deleted the META-INF folder from minecraft_server.jar when I added the TFC and Forge stuff - you don't need to delete the META-INF folder.

I followed all the instructions, yet whenever I try and open the jar it doesn't even start. Nothing happens at all.

So i've followed the instructions and the server runs fine but whenever anyone pickes up a drop item they get kicked with the line "Internal exception: java.IOException: Reviced a string length less then zero! weird string!"

If anyone knows that this is or how to fix it, Ive already re installed everything and am sure its not a problem of me following an instruction incorrectly.

Make sure you do not remove the META-INF folder inside the minecraft_server.jar file. Also I have not been able to get this mod to work with craftbukkit or craftbukkit++. Following the instructions above I got the server running.

First of all...

As of Version Beta v2 Pre 3 Guava is NOT needed anymore
and
As of Version Beta v2 Pre 6 TFC_Game is NOT needed anymore

If you want to install a Server AFTER Version Beta v2 Pre 6 the only things what you need to get it right are:
1.) minecraftforge-server-3.1.2.96 what you can find here --> http://www.mediafire...vncnih5ori89rk5
2.) TFCraft-server-core what you can find here --> http://adf.ly/82kCT

How to install...
open your minecraft-server.jar with 7zip or winzip
drag the files from both files ( minecraftforge-server-3.1.2.96 and TFCraft-server-core) into your
minecraft-server.jar. Close it
start the server
have fun...

hope that helped a bit more ....

I started with a fresh server.jar added the forge server stuff into it via 7-zip, then added the player API server stuff (as requested in the d/l instructions of TFCraft downloads) then I add the TFCraft server stuff. Iv tryed with out the Player API and it still gave the same problem.

I'm going to keep messing with it after I post this, thats usually when I figure the problem out.

You didn't install Forge correctly

ITickHandler is an interface made with Forge
Always delete TFC config when updating!!

Computer build:
ASRock Z77 Extreme6, Intel i5 3570k, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM, MSI HD Radeon 7950 3GB GDDR5 GPU, 550w PSU.
Running 1920x1080p resolution on a 23 in. Monitor.

so... how do you install it correctly? I simply took all the stuff in an unzipped forge-server3.1.2.96 then drag and dropped it into the minecraft_server.jar folder. Just like I do with the client forge and every other mod Iv ever used. the use of ctrl+a kinda prevents me from missing a file.

That's an extremely old version.

Go to Forge's Downloads Page and download the recommended version.
