      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Animal Familiarity (again)

5 posts in this topic

I could not find anything on the forums answering my question, please forgive me if I overlooked something:

Is there anything indicating the familiarity cap of the first generation of animals?

I got all my animals to the white border, which indicates that their familiarity won't decrease anymore. There has been no offspring yet, some of my females are already pregnant.

But I assume I can keep feeding them to raise the familiarity further?

How do I know that the cap is reached?

The changelog states that the indicator change to golden when max familiarity is reached. But does that mean only with 100% familiarity, or also when the max of the first gen cap is reached?

The gold heart is when you hit 100% familiarity. Unfortunately there is no indicator for when a first generation animal has hit its familiarity cap.

Thanks for your incredibly quick answer!

Thats a shame, so we'll have to guess, I assume. Second gen has no caps at all, right?

From the 79.0 Changelog:

  • Familiarity has a set cap after which it can no longer be increased in adult animals. Baby animals can always increase their familiarity, and do so much faster than adults.
  • Baby animals retain 50% of their mother’s familiarity when born, unless she is close to maximum familiarity, in which case they will retain 90% of it

So to answer your question, second generation animals have no caps as long as they are a baby. If they hit adulthood before you max out the familiarity, there is a good chance it will still have a cap. If mom had only just barely enough familiarity to breed when she gave birth, it is entirely possible that the babies will have very low familiarity and you might not be able to max it out before they hit adulthood, forcing you to wait until the 3rd generation to have a maxed out animal.

Ok, seems I just missunderstood something here. I usually read changelogs very carefully, but sometimes I just don't get the full meaning.

You meant the baby "state" which is only for a certain amount of time, while I thought that the cap does not apply to second gen animals.

But the fact that there is nothing indicating this cap makes things really complicated. I don't have enough grains yet to carelessly waste it ...
