      Hey All, A topic has come up of late in the IRC channel in regards to the general feel of the forums and the community that supports them. Things have progressed further than I would have liked with out this being addressed more publicly because I would much rather have snubbed this out sooner rather than later.. but I have been busy. Here is the general rule I would like people to follow: Wheaton's Law "Don't be a dick." Those of you from the IRC channel know that this is the only rule I ask people in there to follow and we generally have a good and lively time chatting about all manner of things. This is basic rule that just about everyone understands and I am going to expand it to the forums from here moving forward. If you can not help people in a helpful and polite manner then I simply ask you to stop. Now I generally take a back seat to moderating the forums as I like to participate in the suggestions forum fairly heavily at times and would rather do so as a forums user than a moderator. But I am also fairly well known for being the person who constantly puts their foot down and so I am stepping up and doing so on here. If you find yourself unable to respond to a message politely then I ask that you do not respond. This mostly focuses on the increasing level of hostility found within the Suggestion forum as well as the Server forum. I do not care if this is the 30th some odd time you have seen someone make the same suggestion. Or even if the new post on an older topic is one entry above the old one. I expect the members of this forum to respond politely to the user, new or old, and point to the older topic if it applies and even go the extra step to suggest they either add in new information or to summarize the outcome of the previous discussion based upon the new post's entry into it. That is what we are here for, that is why I close most topics instead of deleting them, so that they can be found and referenced down the road. The next topic is the slew of derailment attempts I have seen as of late. If you want to have fun and joke around that is what the off topic forum is for and pretty much anything goes there. I do not expect to read a suggestion thread and have to go through 3 pages of image memes people have shot back and forth. Quite simply this is a waste of my time to read and then have to clean up. Now for the summary. I am going to start taking a more active role, especially in policing the suggestion forum, and handing out warn levels to people whom I see doing this. These will be indiscriminate and applied not to just the first person who derails or is impolite on a topic or response, but to everyone whom follows the lead of that person. As I do not like doing things with out giving you all warning this post shall serve as that warning. If you have a desire to bring this topic up with me then I invite you to do so on the IRC channel. Lets raise the level of quality and grow the community. Let us not descend into the quality often found on the minecraft or league of legend forums. There is simply no need for that here. Be passionate about things, just do not be abusive.

      Offline Servers

      Recently I've seen a few server listings showing up on the first page of the Servers forum that have been closed for an extended period of time, but have recently gotten a reply from a new member who didn't realize the server is offline. To help prevent this from happening in the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the report function on the original post of any servers that have been confirmed as offline, so that the topic may be locked. If you are the admin of a server and plan on taking the server offline, please use the report function on the original post of your topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be locked. If you are the admin of a server that has a locked topic, and would wish to bring the server back online, please use the report function on the original post of the topic to let the TFC Staff know that the topic should be unlocked. As always, please remember to follow rule #3 of the servers forum and update your topic title to contain the version of TFC that the server is currently running. You can do so by editing the OP, and then clicking on "Use Full Editor."

[TFC 0.79.23+] Decorations Addon for TFC

I know you've given the go ahead to include this mod in modpacks anyway, but I like to try and be polite and give a heads up, and so I am going to note here that I have it planned to include this mod for my upcoming EzTFC modpack.  This mod is the perfect combination of solutions for the two main issues I have in building in TerraFirmaCraft: early game building materials and permanent non-pumpkin light sources.  Well done. =)

 

As a quick query: are the mud brick blocks supposed to be flammable?  I didn't see anything one way or another on the intention when looking here, but I may have had a spectacular failure when I decided to try making a charcoal pit with them.  If this is intended, I'll just make a note of that, it was just very... alarmingly surprising to discover when it happened.

 

Speaking again on the modpack front, I may also be adding Merchants in the future, but I'm leaving its inclusion up to feedback from any users.  If I end up including it, I'll pop over to that thread to let you know as I have here.

No - mud bricks are not flammable. 

Is alabaster the only paintable block? Or can you paint mud bricks as well?

Only alabaster block could be painted.

Would you be willing to add the ability to disable modules within the mod? I want the lanterns, gypsum and mud bricks, but I'm not really wanting the placable gem lights. Normally I'd config to no light and ignore them, but as I reported to you the override of the base TFC gems causes a crash in MineTweeker scripts. Gems are rare in TFC and so the ability to craft lower tier gems from higher tier ones is important for balance in the modpack I am developing. Yes I can use the inbuilt TFC conversion to vanilla, but I'd like a more natural process (crafting with high tier chisel).

No - mud bricks are not flammable.

 

If the mud bricks don't meet this requirement, they will burst into flames when used to cover a charcoal pit, and be destroyed. This goes for any and all blocks, vanilla, TFC, addon, or otherwise. https://github.com/Deadrik/TFCraft/blob/master/src/Common/com/bioxx/tfc/Core/TFC_Core.java#L1258

Does anyone have a download link to 1.0.11, not the latest 1.0.12 version? A server I just got whitelisted on is still using the old version and I can only find a download link to the newest version...

Thanks for details.Mud brick (as well as alabaster block) doesn't meet these conditions, therefore it is not valid for charcoal pit.I will look if I could fix this (I think it should be valid for charcoal pit).

I know you've thankfully provided a direct link to the 1.0.11 version but why is the link for the latest version hidden behind an unregistered link hider? I hate needing to register to a forum I won't use just to get a single download link.

I agree. I realised i'm many versions behind but i can't be bothered to register at another forum...

It;s my fault I did not realized that, I removed the requirement for registration. All guests are now able to see and download links.

Enjoy the mods, but in any case if you guys feel like stop by our server and come play with us.

I removed the requirement for registration. All guests are now able to see and download links.

I don't want to sound like i am demanding features, but I just had an idea. How hard would it be to make a helmet with a lantern attached that would light up around the player (like in Dynamic Lights)?

Thanks for suggestions, but I think helmet with lantern is out of topic of Decorations addon.

Also, I think maybe we need portable light source, but something like torch or lantern in the hands.

Hi, I'm new to mods and would really like to play with this one, the title say addon, does that mean there is a base mod I need to install? I can't find a mod called Decorations, the closest I can find is DecoCraft?

This is the Addons subforum of the TerraFirmaCraft forums. That means that unless specified in the OP, the only "base mod" that you need to install is TerraFirmaCraft. That's also why the title of this topic says "For TFC"

I love all of the cool features in this mod :D

 

However I have recently discovered that it is somehow conflicting with HQM (Hardcore Quest Mode) and will corrupt the quest book when I save any changes while this mod is installed. I would love to be able to add lanterns, paint and the other items from this mod to my quest book but for now the two mods just don't "play nice together" :(

Have you tried disabling gem module? I know the method used to replace gems conflicts with minetweaker causing a crash. I'd guess you use gems in a quest somewhere. Worth a try.

Could you please provide step by step description of how to reproduce problem?This will significantly simplify problem invenstigation.Also, maybe problem is related to placeable gems (as suggested Bunsan), maybe HQM is not supporting "substitution aliases".Did you try to disable gems module via config file?

I just noticed that with the Lead core, it uses a lead sheet (like all others), however the sheet is able to be created on a copper anvil, but the core requires a bronze anvil.

Not sure if this was intended or not, so thought I would bring it up just in case this is a bug/oversight.

Has anyone found / made a resource pack with support for this mod?

I use it but tend to lean away from actually using the blocks because they look a strange compared to my other blocks which are all 128x128 :)

Other than that it's great!

 

I might edit at least the mud bricks myself if nobody knows of any packs.

Thank you for letting me know.I've used wiki (Metals) when created list of what anvil for what sheet is required.But wiki stated that Lead is tier 2 metal and therefore min anvil level is Bronze/Rose Gold.I will make sure one more time that Lead actually could be worked on Copper anvil and then will update Decorations addon.

I turned off the gems in the configs and now the quest book is working great.

The only step was saving the quest book and reloading the client. After opening the quest book every single quest was locked and invisible even in edit mode.

 

Looks like disabling the place-able gems works :D
