      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Drying Fruit

7 posts in this topic

Hello TerraFirmaCrafters!

There are a-many ways to protect your precious food and such goodies, especially fruit, with it's ever-so-quickening decay rate. However, an extremely effective source of preservation, drying, doesn't seem to work with brined fruits. Is anyone else having a problem with this? Or was it never implemented?

You can only dry/smoke meats and cheese.

Ah. Thanks. Does brining fruit still decrease the decay rate?

Brining is only for flavor, and preparation for preservation methods such as smoking, drying or pickling.

Gotcha. Ah well. Guess I'm stuck with some brined fruits for now lol. Though would it be hard to implement dried fruit?

It's not a matter of how hard it would be to implement. Historically the only fruits that were traditionally dried were raisins, figs, dates, apricots and apples, and only one of those is actually available in TFC. When we implement a preservation method, we cater it to entire food categories, not towards specific foods within a category. Out of all of the fruits that are in TFC, the majority of them can be found dried today, but that is only because of modern technology that is outside the scope of TFC.

Wow... That's some background history I did not think about. Guess things today just seem so easy compared to back then, huh? Ah well
