      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Melting Tool Heads

11 posts in this topic

I suggest the possibility to melt the tool heads into the ceramic vessel and in the crucible. The more broken the tool head the lower metal you get.

This has been suggested in a variety of contexts already. You likely couldn't find due to not knowing English word and fact they are a bit buried. Tools are cheap resource wise, there is really no need to have ability to melt down used tool heads.

If world has no many ores this suggestion can help you. Heads of tools cannot to be hot. This is no realistic.

Go read. http://terrafirmacraft.com/index.html/_/articles/believable-r64 Gameplay and balance are more important than realism. This is a game. If TFC were realistic 95% of players would be in death loop within a couple of hours.

"My world has few resources." Is such a lousy excuse. The world is procedurally generated. There may be areas of low resources and maybe your spawn is like that. So travel explore. It isn't like a seed has a rich, poor or dry tag that effects the entire world. If you are too lazy to travel then try a new seed. If you like a challenge or like your spawn then suck it up.

I suggest only the recipe (for example: crucible input: copper pickaxe = 70 copper units). I do not think that is a recipe for "players would be in death loop within a couple of hours."

It was a general comment to your vast number of suggestions invoking realism as reason to do so. There is no need to be able to do this. Investing 1 ingot in a tool for the number of uses you get is reasonable. Allowing you to reclaim any amount back is unbalanced in my opinion.

I know that Bioxx said that he seeks to add terrafirmacraft believability, not realism. But some little things make the game exciting. But some lower fps. I suggest what I wanted to see in mod.

Only things like sheets and ingot can be smelted as I believe if you allowed finished products to be smelted without loss you could quickly power-level your skills making them pointless. Making sheets either doesn't affect skills or it's general smithing, I can't remember. I hoped to be able to smelt tools and weapons exactly to do this.

You can recycle an old anvil to recover a lot of metal. That's enough.

This would be a little cheaty. You can make a tool head melt it than do it again making your skill higher so cheaty

Well, you can powerlevel armor smithing in the current b79 version. But it only works on the unfinished pieces ofcourse, which tool heads are not.
