[Intentional] You can put 12 buckets of water into any barrel, but only 10 buckets in liquid form

 Hello.

 

If you put any items into first two slots of barrel inventory, you can fill other 10 with water, and then replace the first two slots with buckets (you may have to press an arrow that fills the liquid out of the barrel).

So the actual amount of water that can be stored in the barrel, is 12 buckets, not 10.

That looks like a complex problem, that is reproduced with clay vessels too.

I think that the easiest solution would be to tweak the amount of liquids that barrel and vessel hold.

But it could be intensional, like, an easter egg. Is it?

Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): YES

If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Yes

I believe you may be mixed up, the barrel holds 10 buckets worth of liquid, for making other liquids, the solid item storage is 12, the bucket of water is an item, the barrel is storing the bucket which is storing the water. Does that help or is there still a concern?

This is not a bug. The barrel has 12 slots of item storage, meaning that it can hold 12 different items. Or it has 10 buckets worth of liquid storage meaning that you can empty 10 buckets into the input slot and it will fill the liquid gauge, and then you can use those 10 buckets worth of liquid to process other items and liquids.

 

By putting 12 bucket items into the solid storage section, all you are doing is wasting the wood to make the buckets, to only carry 1 extra bucket's worth of liquid. Using the liquid storage, you only need 1 bucket item, and you can fill it with 10 buckets worth of liquid, and then place a full bucket in the liquid slot for a total of 11 buckets worth of fluid being carried.

 

Also note that by putting the buckets in the storage slot, not only do you have to make 12 buckets instead of just one, you also have to then manually take all of those buckets out of the solid storage except for the 1st one to open up the liquid storage tab, and then you have to put all of those buckets back into the input slot to pour the liquid into the barrel before actually being able to do any processing.

 

If you as a player are willing to spend the wood and carry around all those extra buckets, as well as take the extra time to put them in solid storage, and then take them out and put them in liquid storage to process, go right ahead.
