      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I googled to see if others had this issue and I found that some did back in 2012. I don't know if it was fixed or is still an issue. I am trying to level them up to see if they despawn at 30%  Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No):  If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCOptions, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug.This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): NoIf yes, which mods?  If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): (Don't have it) If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug.Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Wolves are wild animals. Wild animals despawn and respawn.

 

If you want your pet dog to not despawn, you have to use a rope on it at least once, or make sure it has actually been tamed to the point that it has a collar.

 

Edit: Giving a wild wolf bones so that it follows you around is enough to stop it from despawning. Using a rope is an extra precaution if you want to be extra safe though.

Sorry, I should have clarified that I meant wolves I had given bones. I got one up to familiarity 30% and will log back on later to see if she despawns. I made a name tag but she wouldn't let me put it on her; guessing my familiarity isn't high enough. I will have to make leads if she doesn't despawn.

Actually, I just double checked the code and I see a mistake. For now you absolutely must rope at least once in order to prevent despawning.

 

I'll make sure that's fixed for 79.18. Thanks for the report. :)
