      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Unacceptable Information/Topics/Content

4 posts in this topic

Please follow these guidelines when posting information you discover about the game:

  • Do NOT post raw/actual number data such as durability of items or armor. You can, however, post something saying [item A] has a higher durability than [item B]. The author of the mod wishes this game to be a learning experience for everyone. This means no posting your counted value of a tool. Again, this is NOT a numbers game and the count of how many blocks a tool can dig/work is in fact a number. It IS ok to say that the red-steel shovel is 10% (example only) more effective than the tin shovel, or that the tin shovel lasts about twice as long as the stone shovel.

Apologies for there just being the one and for any confusion. I just figured this needed to be in writing.

If there are any questions, please feel free to ask and someone (or myself if I can) will try to clarify.

Admins/mods/etc. Please feel free to modify/update/delete this as you see fit.

Well Bioxx said if something can be see in-game it can be posted either in the forums or the wiki. If you can count how many blocks of dirt a shovel made of stone can harvest I guess you could post it, am I wrong?

Raw data is stuffs that you find in the files, not in the game.

You're right, but if I remember correctly, the number of blocks a shovel can dig up is equal to the durability value of that shovel, and is therefore the raw value for that item. I could be wrong here though. I'll let someone else clarify how exactly that works :) Sorry for the inconvenience or confusion but as he said, numbers, and the amount of blocks a shovel can dig is a number. So I'll go out on a limb and say you can post that an iron shovel lasts, oh, 25% longer, but you can't say it harvests 5 more blocks (or something of that nature).

RogueHydra is correct about Rule #1. Exact numbers are verboten. Percentages are however acceptable. Trying to make TFC into a numbers game goes against the entire nature of the mod but if you choose to play this way yourself, then more power to you. But please do not force everyone else to play the same way. As I stated on the wiki, once someone sees the numbers, they can't be unseen.
