      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] OutOfMemoryError crash when generating world

5 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes

Answering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted.

TFC Version #: 0.79.18.673 Forge Version #: 10.13.2.1291 Please note that an actual number must be provided for both of the above fields.Simply saying "current" or "latest" will result in your post being locked, due to the fact that in a large number of cases, users who say they are using the "latest" or "current" version are actually using an outdated version. SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SSP Description: The game crashes when generating a new world, or loading that world. On the first try I had 3G of memory allocated to minecraft, and I tried again with 2G because I heard that it is more optimal to not use more than 2G with mods. Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCOptions, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug. This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): NoIf yes, which mods?  If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Yes If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug. Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Because of this, we cannot officially support any issues that happen only when these mods are installed. In the majority of cases, TFC is not causing the bug; Optifine/Cauldron is and TFC can do nothing to fix it.All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. If you refuse to uninstall Optifine/Cauldron, and cannot reproduce the bug when the mods are not installed, do not bother making a bug report, as it will be locked and ignored. Pastebin.com link of the Crash Report: http://pastebin.com/4J4uNnvT

Thanks so much for your quick response! :)

Yes, I was using only: -Xmx2G. When I used these from the post that you linked to: -Xmn1G -Xms1G -Xmx2G -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:SurvivorRatio=2 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=4 -d64 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:+AggressiveOpts, the game still crashed, except with an "Out of Heap Space" memory error.

Strangely enough, the problem seems to be that one seed, as you suggested.

The problematic seed is: thelongdark

No matter what memory arguments I'm using, the game always crashes when creating new worlds with that seed or loading them, however the game works perfectly fine with any other seed!

I have no idea why that specific seed would do that, but I guess my problem is fixed by simply using other seeds!  Thanks for your help! :)

Not sure what the issue is, since I can generate a world with that seed with no issues. Odd.

I am also unable to create load a world with that seed - same error: GC overhead limit exceeded.

or, if I include fastcraft as second mod, I get Java Head Space error and a long list of Requested Block Coordinates (the old forest generation problem?)

Crash report: http://pastebin.com/hMird6J1

EDIT: the world is being created, but unable to be loaded

EDIT2:  definitively strange - it works in Eclipse (less memory?) ?!?
