      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Tornado mod with TFC?

12 posts in this topic

Hey, i was wondering if the localized weather and stormfronts mod or Tornado mod is compatible with TFC. It would be cool in 1.7 since the tornadoes don't destroy blocks anymore, and i dont care about the crafting recipes in that mod. I just want the weather and tornadoes, please let me know if it works! (My computer is acting strangely so i can't test it yet...)

yes it mostly works perfectly fine, you have to increase the cloud height to 300 in the weather&stormfronts settings though. Also sadly hail isn't displayed.

Alright, do i change the cloud height in the config files? Also, do the tornadoes work well with the TFC blocks?

go in the menu, click "Weather2 Config (unpauses game)", then click "Advanced", then go to page 3, then go to "Cloud_Layer0_Height" and set it to 300 and click "Save" (May require a reload of the world / restart of the game for it to update)

tornados work well as far as I noticed. They destroy wood as usual (once a tornado destroyed one of my support beams and half my "house" caved in). Only issues I noticed that it destroys sand blocks and doesnt turn grass into dirt.

Also, how does winter snow work now? Does it still fall, or is there no snow at all?

From what I've seen in game, if you are in a cold enough climate you will get snow instead of rain. That snow melts if it is warm enough, and melts faster if its also raining.

In order for the TFC weather effects (barrels filling, snow collecting on ground, forge/fireplaces getting extinguished) to work, you need to use the lockServerWeatherMode option in the weather2 Misc.cfg. In our modpack (TNFC) we use the setting -1, which allows the regular TFC weather to take place in the background. It does cause some weirdness as the vanilla weather will be happening invisibly. So you'll see Endermen freaking out for no reason, barrels fill by themselves sometimes and forges go out even though you see no rain. It's a fair trade for the fun of tornadoes. Although those need customization as well for the Terrafirmacraft blocks.

Have a look at TechNodefirmacraft on the ATLauncher and you can see how we've configured it. We're pretty happy with the results.

Alright, is this lockServerWeatherMode in the Weather2 config unpauses game? The button you see when you hit esc, at the top of the screen.

Yes. All the options are in that menu (sometimes you need to press advanced in the bottom left), or in the config file.

Just be warned that the in game menu truncates long entries, so in our pack it breaks the tornado block whitelist. The results are rather destructive.
