      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Interdimensional Transport

Description: Hey, I need some help with getting to the other dimensions, like the End and the Nether. I had no idea this was possible until just now, and was wonder how to get to them. Is the nether just like vanilla, and if so, how do I get obsidian in TFC, and, also, how do I get to the end? is it like the vanilla where you use ender eyes to find the stronghold, and how would you even craft them, like vanilla, or is there a different way to find the stronghold? Is there even a stronghold at all? Thx!

They took strongholds out of the game.  There is no legit way to get to the End in this game.

As for the Nether, I think they have also taken obsidian out of the natural world too.  So there is no way to legitimately get obsidian other than cheating it in.  Even if you did, I think it's extremely buggy and doesn't work (need confirmation.)

From the 0.79.24 Change Log:

  • Fixed a bunch of crashes related to going to dimensions other than the overworld. However, I still would not recommend travelling to other dimensions, as it is still quite buggy.

What that entry means is that you won't immediately crash when going to or coming from other dimensions so you don't have to worry about your game being un-salvageable if you do so. However pretty much everything else is still going to be very buggy. You inventory won't update properly, food won't decay properly, and a bunch of other weird stuff.

As to answer your question, there is no way to get to the nether or the end without cheating in the materials to make a portal. There are no strongholds, and it takes an extremely rare case to get obsidian when mixing lava and water, as you will usually generate igneous stone.

The only reason the crashes were fixed for 0.79.24 is for mod packs that add in other ways to get to those dimensions, or mods that add other new dimensions.

Ok, that makes sense. I did hear of it from the changelog. Also, I will now post a bunch of other topics purely out of curiosity of their details and the possible existence of them in future updates. Also, what programming language does TFC use, javascript, lua, batch, or something else? I would like to offer my services as a beta tester, meaning come up with new ideas, or get ideas from somebody else, tinker with the code, and possibly provide support. I know it's a bold request, but I have made some bolder.

TFC, as well as Minecraft, and therefore pretty much all Minecraft mods is written in Java. Generally speaking, a "beta tester" does nothing more than exactly that, test. Testers really don't come up with new ideas or tinker with the code, they just play the game and report any bugs or crashes they come across. You can find the source code for TFC on github.

Ok, then beta testers would be the wrong word. I meant developer, but again, I just like tinkering, so I wanted to help. I don't really need this, I was just curious to see what my options were to help support my favorite mod I love.

The mod is open source. Anyone is allowed to submit PRs or fork and play around in code. If you are interested in adding new features you could create an addon.
