      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] How to ride horses?

3 posts in this topic

Can anyone help me with riding horses? I've bred two wild ones, tamed the foal which now has a golden heart. Waited for ages for foal to grow up (as big as it's mother now) and it no longer hangs around with parents but follows me. I've been playing TFC for a couple of years (I know it has changed heaps in that time, played with most of the changes) and never bothered with horses, tried a couple of times and gave up but now I really want to work this out.

Here's what I've tried with my tamed horse...

Attach with a rope to me, right click with empty hand = 'Female' and nothing

Attach with a rope to me, right click with saddle = 'Female' and nothing

Attach to fence post, right click with empty hand = 'Female' and nothing

Attach to fence post, right click with saddle = 'Female' and nothing

Attach to fence post, feed with grain then right click with empty hand = 'Female' and nothing

What really obvious combination have I not tried?

The correct combination is to rope the animal to yourself, and then to right click on them with an empty hand. From there you have to do the vanilla mechanic of letting it walk around and buck you off and get back on until heart particles appear. Then you can put a saddle on the horse and use the roped to you + empty hand to ride it and be able to actually control the animal. This is only possible if the animal is an adult, but considering it requires less familiarity to ride than it does to breed, you can always just try with the parents since you know for a fact that they are an adult. Horses take 30 in-game months from birth before they are officially considered an adult and rideable.

Tried it with one of the parents and it worked so the the foal musn't be old enough yet, obviously 30 in-game months is longer than my in-game patience . Because it was following me around instead of hanging around its parents I thought it was fully grown.

Thanks for your speedy help Kitty, keep up the good work :D
