      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Wolf doesn't sit still

8 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes. TFC Version #: 0.79.24.816.Forge Version #: 10.13.4.1448. SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SSP. Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes. Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): Yes.If yes, which mods? LiteLoader, Better Boat, Dynamic Lights, FastCraft, GraveStone, and Smart Moving. If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Yes.Description: I'm not sure if this one is a bug. Whenever I tie a tamed wolf to a fence post, it sits but it can still move around and attack animals. This happens with or without the said mods above.

Could you be a bit more specific about the wolf being "tamed" ? Is this a wolf that has been fully familiarized and therefore has a collar and is truly tame? Or is it just a wolf you gave some bones and is now following you around and really isn't tame?

Sorry. By "tamed" I mean just given bones. Does it really do that when with low familiarity? It thought it looked peculiar 'cause it can move around while its butt is still on the ground.

The fact that he remained sitting is the bug. If your dog doesn't have a collar, you need to keep it as far away from animals you don't want it to kill at all times. Just because it's roped to a fence doesn't mean it isn't going to kill that tasty pig that's all up in its face. The big difference between a completely wild wolf and a dog that you have just given bones is that the wild wolf will remain standing if you rope him to a fence, and he is free to wander around and therefore more likely to get in range of an animal that it will try to kill. A dog that you have just given bones will sit when tied to a fence and will generally not move around and therefore will only kill anything that happens to wander within that smaller range.

While I'm fixing this bug though, I will make it so that the more familiarized the dog is, the less likely it is to get angry and kill something. That way it isn't completely black and white between a dog with a collar and a dog without a collar.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

I have already progressed beyond the Stone Age, but I'm still new to a lot of stuff in this mod. I'm still relying a lot on walkthroughs and the Wiki to play this mod. Loving the mod so far. Makes me wonder what the remake (TFC2) will be like.

Hey Kitty. Since you changing dogs behavior, would it be possible to include a do not follow feature? They would also need a wander command.

I would like to let my dogs wander inside my town, but if they are roped they will not go around the whole area.

The idea is to have the dogs free inside town.

Not sure what would be the best behavior. If just have the fence or wall limit their movements, or to have a home command that would let the dogs wander to a maximum of x blocks from that location.

I didn't change dogs behavior. All I did was go to the spot in the code where we force the dog to sit, and add in the isAngry flag so it doesn't force them to sit if they are angry. The attack AI already lets you input a number for how often it can attack, so I just included familiarity in that number. What you are asking for is to get rid of the vanilla AI and completely write a new AI from scratch, as well as implement some sort of command system to switch between different AI. TFC is still a mod for Minecraft, and wolves are a vanilla mob, so I would rather they continue to behave as close to their vanilla counterpart as possible. There is essentially no custom AI in TFC, we just use existing vanilla AI. For example, the AI that chickens use to find a nestbox to sit on is just the vanilla AI that cats use to find a chest to sit on.

I see. Thanks Kitty. At least now I understand a bit better how the system works.

I played some Ark Survival Evolved and really liked the options we have for the domesticated Dinosaurs.

It would be amazing if we could have that kind of AI here.
