      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Tastes

6 posts in this topic

sorry, if wrong forum thread.

any formula for calculating the taste of the sandwich and salad?
I looked at the source code. Method combineTastes.

As I understand, the value of tastes are added and multiplied by weight.

For example.
tasteSweet with master skill of cooking:

bread (х2): -29
cheese (х3): -39
pepper (x2): -19
apple (x2): -9
soy (x1): -29

tasteSweet = 0 + (-29)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (-39)*(3 / 10 * 2) + (-19)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (-9)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (-29)*(1 / 10 * 2)
   = 0 + (-29)*0.4 + (-39)*0.6 + (-19)*0.4 + (-9)*0.4 + (-29)*0.1
   = 0 + (-11.6) + (-23.4) + (-7.6) + (-3.6) + (-2.9)
   = 0 - 11.6 - 23.4 - 7.6 - 3.6 - 2.9 = -49.1

when i craft sandwich, i have sweet taste = 31

why?

The number displayed on the food is relative to your player's taste profile. So say that soy has a taste sweet value of 4, but your player's taste profile likes a sweet value of 33. Then soy will say (-29) because it is 29 less sweet than what your player prefers.

So instead you need to include a variable, such as x into your equation, and from there you can calculate what your player's preferred taste value is. You are aiming to craft a sandwich that has a sweet taste of 0.

tasteSweet = 0 + (x-29)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (x-39)*(3 / 10 * 2) + (x-19)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (x-9)*(2 / 10 * 2) + (x-29)*(1 / 10 * 2)= 0 + (x-29)*0.4 + (x-39)*0.6 + (x-19)*0.4 + (x-9)*0.4 + (x-29)*0.1= 0 + 0.4x - 11.6 + 0.6x -23.4 + 0.4x - 7.6 + 0.4x - 3.6 + 0.1x - 29= 1.5x - 49.131 = 1.5x - 49.180.1 = 1.5xx = 53.4

So your player prefers a sweet value of 53.4, which means the actual sweet values of those foods are roughly:

bread (х2): 24.4
cheese (х3): 14.4
pepper (x2): 34.4
apple (x2): 44.4
soy (x1): 24.4

Thanks, Kitty.

There is a way to easily make delicious sandwich?

No. Even with maxed out cooking skill it's going to take a lot of trial and error and you probably won't ever come up with something that's 100% perfect. I would suggest you start by focusing on a single taste. So for example start by focusing on sweet. Make a sandwich using 5 random ingredients. If it's too sweet, swap out your sweetest ingredient for something that is less sweet. If it's not sweet enough, swap out your least sweet ingredient with something a bit sweeter. Don't worry about getting it perfectly to 0, because you're going to have to swap out ingredients to fix the other tastes as well, and that will probably mess up the tastes you've already done a bit.

thanks Kitty

What about buffs from cooked food? Very small info of this subject.

That's because there really are no buffs. I'm assuming you mean salads/sandwiches, and not individual ingredients that have been cooked in a firepit or a grill.

The only benefit you get from salads/sandwiches is better nutrition regeneration, and saturation so you don't have to eat as often.

The only benefit you get from cooking ingredients in a firepit or a grill is that it changes the flavor profile, and can help with decay if you aren't using any other preservation methods.
