      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[79.26] Sudden Lag with Firepit

6 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes.
Answering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted.

TFC Version #: 79.26.881
Forge Version #:  1.7.10-10.13.4.1558
Please note that an actual number must be provided for both of the above fields.
Simply saying "current" or "latest" will result in your post being locked, due to the fact that in a large number of cases, users who say they are using the "latest" or "current" version are actually using an outdated version.

SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): Both

Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes
If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCConfig, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug.
This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. If you are unable to delete your edited config files, please provide a list of the config options you have changed.

Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No):
If yes, which mods? Yes

-TFCScales

If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Not Installed
If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug.
Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Because of this, we cannot officially support any issues that happen only when these mods are installed. In the majority of cases, TFC is not causing the bug; Optifine/Cauldron is and TFC can do nothing to fix it.
All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. If you refuse to uninstall Optifine/Cauldron, and cannot reproduce the bug when the mods are not installed, do not bother making a bug report, as it will be locked and ignored.

Pastebin.com link of the Crash Report: No Crash

Description:

When using a fire today we got sudden lag, for no reason. Mods have been installed and have run with 0 lag for the past month. Suddenly Today lag is Client Side while on a server with a friend. Both of us are experiencing lag. Frames go from a strong 60, to 3 in seconds of activating a fire pit.

If I had to guess it's probably your shaders acting funny with the lighting updates from the fire pit.

You should also know that the copy of REI's minimap that you are using is an illegal one. There aren't any legal copies for Minecraft 1.7.10. There's a good chance that because it's an illegal redistribution that it is also bundled with malware or viruses.

I will try replacing Reis with Voxel, Zans, and see what it does from there.

Edit: Sigh. All the minimap mods are garbage these days. JourneyMap I will it on.

Whelp, Journeymap is nicer than I had been told. However changing it did not change anything. FPS Still drops. Removing mods til the lag stops.

Retested. Single Player lag has vanished. Multiplayer is still laggy however. This is driving me nuts.

Went to the outside firepit I have, and no lag. However I have a firepit inside in a fireplace I had built, and that's the only one lagging. I was suspecting it was the Diorite Mudbricks, swapped them out for stone and I am still getting the lag. -sigh-

Is there any other sort of special blocks in the area? If you replace the fire pit with a different light source like a torch, does the lag still happen?

No lag wit hanyother source of fire. Its all mudbrick and then interior of the house is Maple planks. I have replaced the whole chimney with normal stone, and the lag is still persisting. I may just have to resort to using the outside firepit.

Just a question, when you talk Multiplayer is it an actual server?

Are you sure the lag is just for you? What about other players?

How much memory the server has for how many players?

Also your list of mods is very impressive. TFC is heavy enough, when you add that many mods your game will have some lag.

It would also help if you told us your rig and installation.

What kind of computer do you have? Desktop or Laptop?

What processor, type of memory and how much?

Dedicated Video card or embedded? what make and model?

Operating System? version and is it 32 or 64 bits?

Java version?

Forge Version?

Are you using any java arguments?

How much memory have you dedicated to minecraft?

As you can see there is a lot that can influence LAG.
