      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Geology Research

2 posts in this topic

Not sure if this is 'general' or 'off-topic'.

I am wondering where the creators of TFC did their research to learn about the various rock types, ores, metallurgy, wood types, early technologies, etc., for everything that is 'real life'.  I would like to start my own project using similar research (not MC related).  From what I've seen, TFC always brings some fresh new educational stuff to the table.  Is there a book?  A website?  Just Wikipedia?  Geology classes in college?  YouTube videos?

Anyway, thanks in advance!

I'm not a developer myself, but if you're just asking for research on geology, metallurgy, ecology, early history of man's technological progress, etc., you don't have to necessarily ask Bioxx or the other developers here for what they used. In fact, I'd say you're probably better off asking that on a science forum, as there are far more qualified individuals who can point you to better, more peer-reviewed sources.

That being said, I can point you to a few links I just looked up to help you get started:
