      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Woodland Lag

Will do. Disabling the web map seems to help... I'll update optifine & update. Edit: Wowsers... ok, that helps a lot. New optifine (B5) + disabled web map = a little lag in the densest bit of willows that were close. If I run into jungle or sequoias, I'll let ya know. This, however, is now playable. Thanks, everyone for your help. I still wouldn't mind seeing some ability to tweak the worldgen a little. Sometimes I think sheep should have a single horn poking out of their forehead, y'know?
  2. Woodland Lag

Forge 1272. I never use the online journey map. Edit: Just found the option to disable web map...
  3. Woodland Lag

That's workable for areas where I'm hanging around... but exploring kind of precludes it. Plus fires of that size would cause lag themselves while they're burning, wouldn't they?
  4. Woodland Lag

I've got Fastcraft... also a few other mods, but not resource intensive ones... NEI with it's attendants, the Waterskin and Decorations add-ons from these forums, and Journeymap. My graphics are set to Fast just on general principle, what with this graphics card & all; particles to minimal, clouds off, etc. etc. Optifine clears up the lag, but screws up the rendering:
  5. Woodland Lag

This isn't a bug report, just a question.I'm running with a notso-hotso graphics card right now, and the game runs fine... except in the presence of certain trees. Even more or less dense forests of pine, maple, etc aren't cripplingly laggy. But when there are willows or sequoia loaded, it slows down to a crawl. My guess is that it has to do with the sheer number of leaf blocks loaded. The more willows, the worse it gets; chop 'em down, and it starts to lighten up. Anyway, I'm not complaining at all... this is almost certainly a problem on my end, but upgrading my graphics is not an option right now. My question is this: Is there a way to edit the world generation to reduce the frequency of certain species of trees? Or just remove them? One or two willows now and then isn't a big deal, but if I run into a forest of them, or sequoias, I basically just have to avoid it entirely.Any suggestions would be helpful...Thanks.
  6. A use for Galena

Well, the Romans built an entire Empire with it, and *mostly* didn't die of lead poisoning...I was thinking of a use for lead, since I keep running across it and being disappointed. "D$@#%, just more galena"...What about lead pipes? A simple clay mold, end product is a 1-block lead pipe that puts a water source-block at end 'B' if there's a water source-block or another water-filled lead pipe on end 'A'. The line of pipe needs to trace it's way back to an original water source-block.... cut the pipe, and the "disconnected" section loses it's water block, the 'created' water block moving to the new 'end'.It would be really nice to be able to irrigate fields before you make it all the way up the metal ladder to Red Steel.... or be able to pipe in water to a building or town square & be able to fill your jug from it instead of schlepping down to the river every day or hoping for rain to fill your water barrels. Edit: The existing Minecraft water system makes an aqueduct more or less useless, since only *source* blocks can be used to fill buckets / barrels / jugs, and as irrigation it would only work on a series of terraces no more than 7 blocks wide. And yes, white pigment is the other historical ancient use for lead that might be appropriate for TFC. (Even I am not willing to go so far as the historically accurate uses of food preservative & seasoning.)
  7. Floating leaves

Ditto. Seems more prevalent with the really tall trees.
  8. [Solved] Firepit put out in rain under thatch blocks

Before I checked on this topic, I took down the thatch over the firepit & replaced it with glass. Fire still goes out.
  9. TFC Build 79

Well, I just upped to build 79... I know the wiki is out of date, but is there anywhere else where there might be some crafting recipies up? Even if just in text form? Bowls? Either with a knife and a log or with three plank blocks? Nope. I've got food piling up. Wool cloth to make a bed the old way? Nope. I need a loom. At the moment my choices seem to be a) sit around every night waiting for sunrise, or b ) spend who knows how long trying every permutation of possible recipies for a loom and hope I guess right. Neither one is appealing. I like the new terrain generation and all; I just wish we'd gotten at least a hint at how to make this incredibly necessary stuff in the change log.
