I am 100% sure I didn't break the steel pickaxe, it still had around 80% left in its durability. I grabbed the steel axe and prospectors pick last night but didn't end up going mining as I got tired and decided to go to bed. Then this morning I logged on to go mining and they were gone. The other two tools I may have misplaced or destroyed and forgot. It is possible i accidentally knocked them out of my inventory before going to bed last night, I can't be certain there. I have also checked every barrel, chest, and tool rack I own just to make sure before I posted this. I wish it were more consistant so I could try to replicate it but it is not sadly. And honestly the only item im really sad about is the Steel pickaxe because I do not have very much steel right now.

Actually I've had a similar thing with this. If you put food with any amount of water in it the food will be in a sort of suspended animation, aka it wont decay. The only thing is when you take it out the decay will skyrocket and begin to destroy the food UNLESS you use a knife and cut decay of the food. If you do it fast enough the food will only decay a little and will stop catching up with time. Essentially makes the food last infinitely, and removing it from the barrel will only cost a very minut, .01-.05%, of the food each time.
